From Columbus to MV is just about 400 miles. It will be a good 8hrs of riding. All interstate & lots of elevation changes. We will be departing Columbus on Sunday morning.

Watch the thread on the planning of this and see if you can make it fit-in with your riding route and schedule.

Let us know... you're more than welcome ;)

My plan at this point is to head out of MN with Gibby on Friday.

I figure that will be 10 straight days in the saddle but could take advantage of some hiking on Monday to work the legs some. -CB

That's great to hear Cal.

It would be my intentions to have you guys stay here Friday night to save you a night's hotel room cost.

We'll have some steaks on the grill (or something else if no one likes steak); some refreshments, and then head out early Saturday morning for Columbus, IN.

Bluekaw1600 (you met Don and Mel at the rally) lives in Columbus and is looking for a "cheap-but-clean" hotel for Sat night.

Then we'll head-out early on Sunday morning from there for MV. It will be an 8-hour ride at minimum; but we'll get there Sunday night.

On Monday, anyone can do what they want... ride, relax or whatever. (I plan on riding on Monday.)

So, let's stay in touch through the long winter months on this. It will be a great trip and something to look forward to while it is cold in the north.

Glad to here that Cal. It should be a very fun ride, even more so after we hook up with the pack at Gregs. I hope that more decide to go to the National Rally with us. A very large North Central contingent would be awesome.

Don't know how big of a "pack" will be here. It might just end-up being you, Cal, and me (and my wife) starting from here...

So far; after here we are only meeting-up with Bluekaw (and his wife); and a friend of his. 5-bikes total at this moment. But who knows, more may join-up since it is a while-off yet.

So... while not exactly the "Wild Bunch"... it will still be fun.

Just made our reservations at MaggieValley hotel....they're getting short on rooms according to the front desk. Act fast!

We're staying five nights, from the 12th thru 16th.

We'll be taking Pearl, the Goldwing. We still own our Nomad, though! Wife says she needs the comfort ride!

That sounds great. So far there will be four bikes meeting-up here in Northern Illinois to ride down to Columbus on Saturday.

Somewhere along the line we'll catch-up with Rayski. And eventually in Columbus (Saturday-night) we'll pick-up Bluekaw and a buddy of his. So far, that will make it a posse of 7-bikes leaving early Sunday morning from Columbus, IN.

Here is some important information for this group:

Everyone needs to call to make reservations for Saturday, June 11th, and for the Friday, June 17th (for the ride back north). Columbus has several events occurring in town that week and hotel rooms will be scarce.

Everyone, please report back-in here so we know everyone made reservations at both MV (June 12th -- 16th; 5-days, leaving on the 17th); and for Columbus (June 11th & 17th.)

COLUMBUS, INDIANA HOTEL INFO: BLUEKAW SAID:
I have made a call to the motel, as of right now they have plenty of rooms available. The rate online is $55 but if you call the local Columbus number below the rate is $48, it may be worth making the call.

I made reservations for June 11 and June 17. Thanks for the heads up Greg. And by the way Greg, in my old mind I am the "Wild Bunch" all by my self.

Just made our reservation for Motel 6 in Columbus for June11th.

We're planning on taking a side trip to Jack Daniel's in Lynchburg, TN on the way back so we'll be "passing out" near there instead of Columbus. LOL!

Dmac: I probably should consider Lynchburg, TN also, since bourbon is my beverage of choice; and those that know me well often call me "Whiskey Wilson" I am an official "Ambassador" for Maker's Mark bourbon; but haven't made it down to their distillery yet. I'll have to do that before too long.

Glad to hear you guys made your reservations. I will be making mine tomorrow.

Gibby... that's funny. I suppose there's a little of the "Wild Bunch Wannabe" in all of us to some degree

The group of riding friends here in Columbus already have ride planned this summer. It is called the Bourbon Trail, it covers 7 distillery's mostly in Kentucky. It will be a weekend that all are looking forward to enjoy.

DMAC, Gibby, GLW & all others that will be coming from the north to Columbus, we are looking forward to your stay in our town.
I will be asking the favorite types of eating all enjoy so I can make arrangements for all to gather jointly. It will be several months away before I do this, we have a great variety of places to enjoy.

We've been official "Squires" of Jack Daniels for years and own a 1 inch parcel of land at the distillery!

We met the master distiller a few years back at a dinner and he signed a bottle of Single Barrel for us.

Any other Squires out there? Chime in.

Bluekaw... I'll eat most anything; except Indian-food. I cannot eat Curry unfortunately. So, I won't be hard to please with regard to finding a place to gather Sat-night to eat. The place might have to have an "adult-beverage" menu though!

Dmac... one square-inch of land at the distillery? Heck... I've got to call up Maker''s Mark and ask them why they are so cheap! All I get is an occasional newsletter, and a certificate (not really worthy of hanging anywhere); free admission to the distillery; and I am allowed to have my name put on a placard on one of the prime-barrels of bourbon. I think I actually get to have the placard if I buy it!! LOL!

Ponch... you've got to learn to drink the nectar of the god's... bourbon!!!! The only true American liquor by definition!!! Come on buddy... get with it! Scotch is for the snobby-type with ascots... you know... the ones that ride BMW's!!!
