What's a 99 Nomad w/low miles worth?

my son in law has always like my 06 Nomad, and having sold his volusia is looking around again. he found this:

'99 Nomad, 1500cc, carbed, only 7400 original miles. Excellent condition, garage kept, well maintained. No accidents. Lots of chrome, dual backrests, highway pegs, windshield, custom Cobra pipes, lockable metal side bags, luggage rack. New battery and Tune up. Ready for a long trip! Free helmet to buyer

the asking price is $5250 -- any thoughts on what kind of deal this is? looking at the pic's, it appears to be stock with the exception of the pipes, luggage rack, and driver's backrest.

In my opinion that still seems a little high for a 99,but what do I know. Also with that low mileage Id guess it still has the plastic oil gear in it. That will have to be changed, and will be an expense that someone has to pay.

Seems a little high to me. Accessories doesn't add that much value I'm afraid.Looking at NADA and Kelly Blue book on line will give you some guidelines.My 2005 was only $500 more but it was completely stock with about the same mileage.Also, motorcycles have different values depending on what part of the country you are in.I think that year model had a plastic oil pump gear and if it wasn't replaced you could have trouble in the future.Others that have more details on the gear thing will probably chime in.In my part of the country I would think it is $600-$800 to high on his asking price.

I think that's high for a 12 year old bike. Remember, the '99 had the plastic oil gear, it may or may not have already been changed. I'm guessing with 7400 miles it may still have the plastic gear.

Tell the seller to knock $1500 off because the metal side bags are really ABS plastic.

I paid $3900 for my 99 with 5,230 miles on it. It came loaded with pretty much every Fire and Steel accessory and a set of Cobra USA slash cut true dual exhaust.

It needed a back tire and a battery shortly after I bought it.

Check on the POG. I bought a 99 and had the JOG ordered. It wasn't delivered before the POG went out. That started a 2 year love hate relation with my 99.

Thats price sounds a lot more in line with what I was thinking.

thanks for the input. we were both thinking 4 thousand would be about the max. anything above that just seems like too much for a 12 year old bike, even with the low miles. he's emailing the guy to see what he says. i'm thinking he should hold out for a couple more months unless he finds a deal he can't refuse -- around here, by early summer the prices are already dropping.
