Cutting out under acceleration?
My '12 Voyager has started to cut out intermittently while using hand throttle. However, set the cruise and it runs fine? Any ideas before she goes to the shop this week?

SeaFoam

Do you have any kind of aftermarket Fuel Processor - I had one on my 2014 which just started to run bad, took it off when I got the Ivan Reflash - which cured all my issues related to acceleration. So - SeaFoam and an Ivan Reflash should fix you right up. Also, I'll bet you a dollar shop will tell you it's normal and tell you to run out this tank of fuel and try a fresh tank. |

I thought it started acting up after filling up with gas about 4 weeks ago. Was in WV and it seemed to straighten up the same day. But it isn't getting any better. Have tried seafoam and another injector cleaner......but problem persists? Bike is stock.

Throttle cables?? Is The cruise all electronic and the throttle is part cables then to the electronics? Could the problem be in there?
But my first guess would be the gas, I do not believe seafoam will make bad gas better. Don't bet Mike07, he is usually spot on. Or just send the dollar now, to him.

I was standing talking to Ivan (when he did my "latest Re-flash" and we talked about it.) He mentioned that deep down in the power curve acceleration gizmo dohicky that there was an inherent stumble in the 1700s. He went into some explanation of how some valves and orifices open and close at a certain RPM. Bottom line is - It's there and His latest tune relieves most if not all of it. His explanation eclipsed my ability to understand and I just shook my head and went "Yep, Yep" |

Doesn't happen consistently at any certain rpm. Occurs under both acceleration and deceleration when using hand throttle. Not sure how to define it......miss/stumble? Seems to run perfect on cruise? I cleaned the throttle body on my Nomad and may try that before going to shop with this. Have burned at least 10 tanks of gas since it started so don't think the problem is fuel?

I suddenly started experiencing something similar. About half throttle, like trying to pass someone or take an incline, she stutters and hesitates. Slight throttle and full throttle are fine and, of course, cruise control is fine. Tried sea foam in the tank and replaced the plugs. Thought it might be my Power Commander so I removed it. No change. Let me know if you find out something before I do. Probably going to move on to the injectors, TPS, and coils.

But if it just started could it be the air leak that is common on these beasty's? Welcome by the way, Since I see this is your first post could you have just started riding it differently since you are getting accustomed to the bike and now you notice it??

Thanks! Been riding it for two years and it's always been strong and smooth with no hesitation, so this is definitely a sudden thing.. Tell me about this common air leak! Where does it occur.

Ok. So I sprayed brake fluid around the TB/Intake joint and found a leak on the bottom side. Got the O-rings on order. Fingers crossed because this is getting embarrassing when I ride with my lady and my crew.

Rac'n Ray (you won't know him unless you've been lurking a while) suggested using Threebond 1211 gasket sealer both sides of the Thunder gasket, that's the grip that tore it. So now rather than ship another Thunder gasket all the way down here, I just use the Threebond sealant by itself. Everything bolts together much better, and the seal is superb.

See Mike's post #7. Most of us have experienced this tiny stumble, and there's no cure except to modify your style of riding. I notice it rarely now, and consider it a quirk of the 1700.
