Language Checker Poll

Vote on whether you would like the language checker on KawaNOW turned off or not.

Whatever the majority wants.....they will get.

Language Checker Poll

I had enough of offensive language in a previous like and don't need more here. The "Lighter Side" is already personally off limits to me by my choice. I prefer not to have to wade through the gutter to read posts and will not if that happens.

Just my 2 cents worth.

If you use FireFox or Safari on a Mac, it has a built in spell checker. As far as the language, While I don't need to hear or read it in every sentence, I think it should be an open forum.

Ells,
Actually, this is not about spell checking but rather about masking certain off-color words. When I setup the KawaNOW forum, one of the features was a replacement or mask feature for any words I chose. It came setup with words already and I added a few. For instance, whenever someone tries to type the P word which describes the private area of a woman, it blocks out the word and puts asterisks. There is a list of words I have setup.

I have complete control as to whether to check a certain number of words, or no words at all. In the past, I've had users ask about it because they got tired of certain words being checked.
So, I decided it might be best to take a poll.

I think when someone types in that "Pword" it should replace it with Socwkbiker

I certainly understand Idaho.........a middle of the road solution could be that only the really bad words be checked and ease up on some that are questionable.

A few bad words shouldn't be to bad, unless it starts to get out of hand. We could always review it again if people feel its gone to far.

You two are so funny! You should take that act on the road. You could entertain the old ladies on the way to the casinos.
Besides, wouldn't that be better suited for Nico or beezer?

Trip it should stay in the playground. I have done my part on being bad but i think that stuff like that should stay in the playground and not all over the board. It's one thing to have fun or to vent but if you post that all over the forum it will make people leave or not join this forum at all. There is a time and place for everything. If you want to view that stuff everyone knows they can find it in the playground. And that they can choose to go there or not. Just my two cents.

If I had my true preference I'd block the F word and just a couple of words that denigrate certain groups.

Damn, sh*t, hell, pu**y, va***a, p***s, son of a beatch, tits, ass, boobs, bastard and the like don't offend me. But that's just me :)

My feeling is that the menbers can control their own language, and if they don't the other members will give them the business and they'll quickly learn to control it.

But when the grammar nanny blocks technical terms like petc0ck it's a real pain.

Keep the "really bad" words on the list if you like, but remember that words are just words, and this is not a children's site.

At least I wouldn't let MY kids visit it. (Well, grandkids. My kids are almost 30. They could handle it.)
