Get the Avon Cobras, 180/70/16 rear. Great tire with decent mileage.

the reason i wanted to stay with the MT66 is i have them on my other bike and they are AWESOME in the rain and cornering, I love the tread design, really disperses the water away from the tire and the mileage you get with them is better than any other in that price range. but i do thank you for your input

Avon Cobras are $228 at Dennis Kirk. I was going with MT-66 also but no size to fit Nomad.
We are pretty limited as to who makes a decent tire for our bikes that is relatively inexpensive. I haven't decided what I'm going to go with yet.

Have you priced the ME-880 anywhere? Just curious.
I show $151.99 + $5 shipping at Dennis Kirk.

I'm not a TIRE GURU, but Compare to your front tire, it is a 150/80-16. The 1500s run the 150/80-16 front and rear. the 1500s have a 3 1/2" wide rear wheel, and the 1600s have a 4 1/2" wide rear wheel.

I would suggest going either with a 180/70-16, or a 180/60-16

The older 1500's stock tire was the 150/80/16. That is what is on my 99 and I'm running the the MT66's on mine.

The book is low for what the tires call for from what I have seen on mine. I use the tire manufactures recommendation of 42 in the rear and run 38 in the front. That is what I have found to work the best on my bike carrying my big butt. Lower pressure in the rear <35 and the bike starts getting squirlly lower the pressure the worse it gets.

I'm glad I found this. Been looking for a front tire and just ordered an ME880 from Just Motorcycle Superstore. Saved a bunch of money. Nice.
