Heading toward San Antonio

The high temp the next couple of days is in the upper 60's. no clouds. Jude and I are going to ride out toward San Antonio through the country. Anyone else wanting to get out and ride?

Well I guess not. We had a great ride in the Texas hill country. Ran into the Austin chapter of the Vulcan riders association in Gruene Tx. Good bunch of guys. Spent the night in Whimberly. Beautiful weather, beautiful country.

We need a regional ride in the Texas hill country. How about it Tripp?!

Sounds good. BTW, Trip is more than just a little familiar with the hill country.

Mitch was asking me if we were going to the Hill Country again. Guess I need to plan one. How about this fall?

What defines "fall" in Texas?
Needs to be cool enough to ride and not to cold to get there.
Last time we met there we had a wonderful time, spring and the Blue Bonnets were in bloom. I'm sure there are things to see in the fall too.

Oh! I just remembered, there is that little get together in Antlers that no one wants to miss.

We could do a "get together" at least.

Late September is the earliest you want to do it you can't stand heat. Doesn't mean it won't be hot to some but the edge will have definitely come off of it...you gotta want it!

I took the Blue Knights to the Hill Country last September. While it was good and warm during the day, it did get rather chilly at night.

If we're going to plan it, mid september would be good or late October. That way it will be around Antlers.

But, if going on two trips fairly close is too much, I could plan a Hill Country trip for May. The TXVROC is planning a reunion ride in the Hill Country for May 9, 10, 11 and 12 based in Kerrville. The VBA has been invited. We might be able to get rooms in Leakey?

Kelli and I made a quick run to Liz's on the square in Blanco on Sunday. We had ordered her a pair of chaps and went to pick them up. Good chance for me to run out the "new" bike. I bought a 2007 to replace my 2000. Still trying to get the handlebar position right. I like the 1600, it seems bigger and the stock seat is as comfortable for us as the Mustang seat I put on the 1500. But I still love my 1500. Probably feel the same way about the 07 once I get a few miles on her.
The hill country is only about 3 - 4 hours away for us, so LET'S GO. We've been there in every thing from 30degrees to 105degrees, rain to sunshine. Lots to do and see there. Four days would give a great taste, but still not be enough time to do it all. We like Kerrville as a jumping off point, but there are lots of places to stay. Late Sept. early Oct. probably good for the weather if doing it in the fall. Yeah, Jessee, you are right to be concerned, we tend to go right from HOT to Christmas with not much in between.
Trip, just saw your post, May is pretty good, could be getting hot or could be good still. Kind of a crap shoot, but usually not too bad.

Cheryl and I would like to do the hill country again. We're waiting to see what develops with Trip VBA and TXVROC. (We also have other gigs to work around). After several trips to the Hill Country, we have learned Kerrville has better motels and restaurants.

Would be good to see Paul and Kelli. Paul's 2000 was the cleanest around so his 2007 will probably be show quality. :) Maybe I can talk Cheryl into at least washing our 2006.

Good luck with that one, Bill. I told Kelli if she didn't start doing a better job keeping the bike clean, the beatings would have to resume. Thanks, though. And, just an aside, the 2000 is for sale. I'm in the process of installing a fairing and hard lowers on the 07, after I get them out of paint. Last year was a bust for us, as we had her son come to live with us and it kind of knocked us out of a couple of important ralleys. But he is well established now, so, when the ralleys come up, I plan to be there. I got this 07 for one heck of a price, and with only 4000 miles on it with a lot of extras already installed. Yeah, I really miss not seeing everyone last year.
