Bretton Woods Canopy Tour Update
Hi All,
I've been in touch with the folks at the Bretton Woods Canopy Tour and have some details to share with you. The public rate for the tour during August (and we are right in the middle of their busiest time) is $110. The rate for guests staying at the resort is $99. Assuming we can get 8 folks to sign up (we have 6 so far who have expressed an interest), our rate would be $89. It may seem like a lot, but it really is a good price given the time of year, and it will be some of the best 3-hours you will ever have. Please note that I will need to book this no later than the end of this week in order to insure that we can get a tour all to ourselves. Those who have expressed an interest, please confirm. Anyone who is still on the fence, think it over. Tom ************************************************** *** Below are some details from Mark at Bretton Woods: · Group Rate - Normally, our public rate during the summer is $110 per person; however, if you bring at least 8 participants or more, we could offer you a group rate of $89.00 per person. In the event you get more than 8 participants interested in doing our tour (we take a max of 8 people plus 2 tour guides in any one tour), we’ll do our best to schedule your group in back to back tours going out on the course a half hour apart. · Reservation Confirmation – Reservations are required for the canopy tour and we confirm reservations upon payment. For groups we require a 25% deposit (one payment source required for entire group and a credit card is acceptable) at the time of booking the reservations with final payment due 14 days prior to the tour date. · Tour Availability – As of this moment (subject to change based on first to pay basis), we currently have 8 spots open on each of the 9:00AM, 9:30AM, 1:00PM, and 1:30PM tours on 8/6….. · Cancellation Policy – Please note that we do go out on the course rain or shine but will not go out in high winds and/or lightening. If we decide to cancel the tour, we will do our very best to contact you ASAP once a decision is made (providing your cell phone number is very helpful), you will receive a full refund or can reschedule. If you cancel, we need at least 48 hours notice prior to the tour time in order to receive a refund. · Physical Requirements – Participants must weigh between 90 and 250 lbs., must be at least 4’ 6” tall, and be at least 12 years of age. The Bretton Woods Canopy Tour is a thrilling three and a half hour adventure which gives guests a bird's eye view of Rosebrook Canyon and its scenic surroundings. When you arrive for your tour, please check in at the Adventure Center desk in the Summer (located in the Bretton Woods Base Lodge) or the Canopy Tour building in the Winter (slope-side of the Bretton Woods Base Lodge). The Bretton Woods Canopy Tour consists of: • 9 Zip Lines (up to 830 feet long and 150 feet high) • 2 Sky Bridges (50 feet above the forest floor) • 3 Rappels (controlled descents up to 60 feet long) • Hiking Trails (short walks to access zip lines) • The Williwaw Dual Racing Zip (during scheduled operating hours) Weather and Clothing: Our tour run in all types of weather, so please come prepared. Summer: • Pants, or shorts with longer than a 5" inseam (for your comfort we do not recommend synthetic "athletic" shorts) • Long sleeved or short sleeved shirt (no tank tops please) • Sunglasses (optional) • Rain gear (when appropriate for weather conditions) We will provide you with leather gloves, a helmet and a harness. Additional items & FAQs: • Please feel free to bring a SMALL CAMERA, VIDEO CAMERA and/or any necessary MEDICATION. • Lockers are available to secure any belongings or you may leave items in your car. • We highly recommend that CELL PHONES, CAR KEYS and WALLETS BE LEFT BEHIND - anything that falls out of your pockets or is dropped may be gone for good. • Weapons are not allowed on the tour. This includes pocket knives and concealed firearms regardless of license. PLEASE REVIEW THESE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS: • Height: Minimum 4 foot, 6 inches • Weight: Minimum 90 pounds, maximum 250 pounds • Age: Minimum of 12 years old • Participants 12 to 17 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult and have a signed waiver from their parent or legal guardian. • The Canopy Tour is designed for participants of average mobility and strength and in reasonably good health. Guests will be active participants and, as such, responsible for maintaining body position while riding the lines, slowing themselves down as they come into the platforms, as well as pulling themselves along the lines should they lose momentum prior to reaching the platforms. • Participants must be comfortable walking on uneven ground and down a moderate incline. • Medical conditions/concerns that are managed on a regular basis should be discussed with your guides before the tour. For serious conditions, please consult with your doctor before participating. • Pregnant women are not allowed to participate in the tour. • Other medical conditions that may be affected by your participation would include but are not limited to: recent surgery; back, neck or shoulder issues; seizure disorders; and heart conditions. • Participants must be somewhat comfortable with heights. A fear of heights should not be an eliminating factor as the tour is constructed to build confidence as it progresses. • The Omni Mount Washington Resort reserves the right to refuse anyone access to the Canopy Tour due to medical issues, safety concerns or equipment specifications, based on size, height and weight. • All participants must sign a release of liability form. CANCELLATION POLICY: • All reservations are charged in full at the time of booking. Cancellation of your reservation less than 48 hours prior to the day of your tour will result in a forfeit of the full amount of the reservation. THE BRETTON WOODS CANOPY TOUR OPERATES RAIN, SNOW OR SHINE. We reserve the right to cancel any tour due to any factors that may adversely affect the safety of our participants and guides. In the event of a cancellation, we will notify you as soon as possible, using the cell phone number and/or email address used to make this reservation (unless other arrangements have been made). If the resort makes the decision to cancel a tour, the full amount paid will be credited toward a reservation on a future date, or a refund will be issued.

I'm not into that kind of stuff and my wife says she wouldn't do it either. But I
noticed the weight maximum is 250 lbs. How many in our group will qualify? Tom you have done an excellent job and put forth a lot of effort, THANK YOU!

Tom, spoke to my brother last night. Consider us both in but easy. by this I mean if we don't get the extra two needed to complete the group then we will be just as happy to go ride or do something else.
Thanks for all the hard work.

Norm - So far, we only have 4 confirmed. Still waiting to hear from Rhys and guest on whether they are in or not. But even with them, that only gives us 6, and we need 8 for the group rate. Guess we'll give it a few more days, but I agree . . . without the group rate this is off the table.
Actually, I'm a little surprised there isn't more interest, not only in this but in the rally as a whole, considering how many folks are located in these two regions.

Tom, we are running about par with other years if I am not mistaken on rally attendance.

As it stands right now I'll be coming up for the day on the 6th just to meet everyone. id-man is probable. Will be caging it up if id-man comes as I would be picking him up and we'll split the driving. My drive for the day will be 573 miles and 9.5 hours in the car. id-man owns a business so I'm not sure if he will be able to make it or not. Either way I'll be up on the 6th to say hello.

Neil, the two previous rallies that sly talks about, one was a week end and one was the same set up as this up coming one. We had virtually the same numbers in attendance, but some different people. Yes you are right some would more likely attend if it was a weekend but some do prefer the week days. One of the main reasons we started the week day event format was quieter roads in the week in these popular tourist areas.
We actually did a survey of which format was preferred before switching for our previous rally in PA and the present format won out by a small margin. Perhaps it is time to hold a survey before our next one. Look forward to meeting you guys if your able to visit.

If it was on a weekend then would a person not have to either take a Friday or Monday off work to attend? Well, unless they live farly close and in that case they could still take a day off in the middle of the week to attend.

Not really. Some people could check in Friday night and checkout on Sunday and still make it home for work on Monday. Others would be able to just stop up for the day to say hello and introduce themselves without taking time off from work. Doesn't apply to me. Retired takes what ever day off they want.

Seems to me if a person were to check in Friday night and checkout on Sunday and still make it home for work on Monday they would have to live pretty close to the rally site.
I'm retired also so it makes no difference to me either, I have every day off

What is close in our minds may be a distance for others to travel. Some people are only good for a couple of hours in their seats and then need to go soak in a tub. I've noticed a lot of the New England riders don't stray much more that an hour or so from their homes.

Rhys, it would be Wed, but it might not happen as we need a group of 8 for the deal and we only have 6 confirmed.
