You'll lose a few drops of fuel, not enough to worry about.

If you're changing your hoses...silicone is the way to go.

The 99 was a carbed bike, but the water hoses should be the same.

The carb, and the FI have the same engine mate.So that follows that the water hoses are the same. Check it out on here.https://www.ronayers.com/oemparts/c/...torcycle/parts

When I bought my gently used, low mileage Nomad 1600 I took it to the shop and had them do a complete service, which included all fluids. When picked it up I noticed that coolant small and showed the service manager. He suggested it was just some spillage from the service. Well it got worse and I noted a small drop of coolant on the case near the front of the engine. They never did locate the leak but got it stopped by tightening all of the fittings to include those under the tank.

I bought the ones on my Nomad from ebay.

That was several years ago and no issues.

And Mick is correct, FI or carb it doesn't matter the hoses are the same except the carb bikes have a carb warmer which uses coolant to warm the carb sooner.

Paid the bill Mick and didn't notice until they rolled it out into the parking lot. It was very faint initially and since I noticed the same thing after changing the the coolant on my 2005 VStrom DL1000 where I had spilled some on the engine/frame during the process. It is a good shop and they made it right.,

What was interesting is that they couldn't find the source of the leak but fixed it by tightening every fitting. that was two years and 6K miles ago with no problems.
