Wandering Nomad,

Greetings from SoCal. Hope your stay here in Cali is a good one and hope your work goes ok as well.

To cover more ground as far as meeting up with California Nomad riders, you may also want to post this thread on the L.A. VROC site: www.lavroc.org A lot of great people there, too and tons of "ride whores" that consider Pismo/Avila Beach a short jaunt. I'm only a couple hours away from where you'll be, so I may be one of the whores to come see ya and show you some of the remarkable m/c roads here in Cali. Also, check into the Stinky Finger forum here: http://forums.delphiforums.com/Stinkyfinger/start

Good bunch there as well and filled with ride whores as well!!!

Keep in touch so we can work something out to get together. I have family from SC; small world!

Talk to ya,
Daryl

Wandering Nomad,
Just received a letter for a job interview on Jan. 16 at 1pm in Atascadero, which is a short distance north of Avila Beach where you'll be staying in CA. I'm coming from the south so I'll pass right by ya. I may go up a week or two beforehand just for the day to do some info-gathering on the job (spend the day poking around in preparation for the job interview). So, send me an e-mail and let's see if we can arrange a meet. If only for a sandwich or cup of coffee or a beer. Whatever works...

Daryl

Heading to California

Well,I have been here for a week now and I am settled in.I have ridden around ,but mainly to orient myself to the area.
I am open to suggestions on places to take day trips to.I was thinking about running up to King's Canyon, but I don't think the weather is right for riding this time of year.
Is there any websites for things to see on a bike in Cali?

Here's a couple to get started with:

http://www.motorcycleroads.com/route...A/CA_index.htm
http://www.lets-ride.com/event/california.htm
http://www.pashnit.com/

Kings is cold this time of year. Head south or east towards Arizona until spring.

Bob's got this right. Long tight twisty road to this beach.

Good ride from there north to Guadalupe for great Mexican food in the Mayor's restaurant.

in fact the entire area of Jamala, Buelton, Solvang, etc is great riding.

Click the picture :)

Great pics. It looks like a great place to spend the day (or longer) riding.

Rode to Solvang and back up Hwy 1. Great riding and scenery.
Went up to Hearst Castle and looked around. Need to make time to take the tour.
