Has anyone been to Galveston in the last couple of weeks? Just wondering if any of the motel's and hotels are open again?

I am down there working at least every week and there are several hotel open .The strand area is open with some restaurants .There are still some areas still damaged along the seawall and in town. All the businesses and piers over the gulf and the fishing piers were washed away and they are in the process of rebuilding the beaches.

Al, the latest ladyfriend and I stayed at the Clear Lake Hilton a few weekends ago. They have rebuilt and everything in that area is in good shape. They have great rates right now too, trying to entice vacationers back.

Galveston looked about 50% deserted around the Strand I thought. The other side looked closer to normal; most of the dives were open for business; needing a tee? Thank goodness Gaidos was open or it would've been a Jack in the Box for us.

Al, in checking reservations I found that the San Luis is opne right on the Seawall. Wife and I stayed there on our 1st anniversary, thinking of going back next month for our 25th.
