Sweet V2K

I dropped my Nomad off at the dealer this morning for the 15,000 mile service. While the dude at the counter was writing up the service ticket, I noticed they had moved the showroom around and there was a really sweet V2K right next to the service counter. It was black, with black wheels, black drag bars and black 3" straights for the exhaust. That was one mean looking V2K! I don't know if it's a special edition from Kaw or something the dealer did.

I'm waiting for the dealer to call and tell me to come down and pick my baby up.

It just takes Kawasaki a few years to sort out the bugs, and then once their bike works well they'll keep building it for 20 years. Look at the current Vulcan or the KLR.

The VN2k is just now entering the part of it's life where it's really sorted out, and I've been waiting for that to happen before I buy one. Now in the mean time some other bikes have come along too, and my next bike may not be a VN2k. If it's a newer big Kawi, and I like it better, I might wait a few more years.

My dream bike? Who knows what next year might bring.

AWSOME! Wasn't it just a couple of months that you posted a 10,000 mile post?

Yeah I hit 10,000 miles in May, I think. I did well over 2000 miles for the Mesquite rally and my Utah vacation in June.

I'm not a traitor, just admiring a nice bike. When I went back to pick my bike up, I asked one of the guys about it. He said is a special package they do...debadge, blackout rims and 3" black straights, air ride suspension, black drag bars, and a few other blackout pieces.

I asked if they're selling any big bikes these days, he said nothing over a 900. Lots of little bikes, though.

I gotta admit that for a month after I bought the Nomad last summer that I thought it was a mistake to be riding such a HUGE bike. Now I'm thinking VN2K might be worth looking into if Ma Kaw ever comes through.

Come on BD, you know you are there.

I think the V2K is known as the most dropped bike because of it's poor balance and slow speed handling charachteristics.

Scott, I was at my dealer on Tuesday, and they had a new V2K there that was very similar to the one you described. They had it tricked out in much the same way. I agree with you, as it was one mean looking bike!

I wouldn't want one like that for anything other than a toy. This one was a hotrod, nothing more. Wouldn't be practical for daily use, IMHO.

Trade in my beloved Nomad for a brand new V2K Classic, because I can't resist the enormous pulling power and sound of 125 cubic inch displacement.

Put some original Nomad items on (windscreen and lowers, so it become to like a real Nomad.

See the pics!
