Utah info Please

This summer we are planning a trip to Utah.
Our first stop will probably be Arches National Park. From my research so far I believe it is possible to ride motorcycles on the roads within the park. Can we see the arches and pillars fairly well without hiking ? Not a big fan of hiking
Also any other info on things to see or other parks to visit in Utah would be appreciated.
Winter planning for summer trips is my main activity this time of year

Hey Tim, I would ask Jared. Since he used to live there, he should know all the cool spots to visit and the best riding routes. I know a few guys from here that make a habit of going to Zion NP quite often.

So while you are West, are you coming to Red Lodge?

Since I grew up in Utah...

In Arches NP, you can ride through the park and many arches are just a short walk from the road. A trip to Utah wouldn't be complete without visiting Zion NP and Bryce Canyon NP as well. There's lots of really good riding in Utah, particularly southern Utah. If you are in the vicinity of Zion NP, the Grand Canyon North Rim is just a couple of hours away and it's a great ride. Also, closer to Arches and Moab is Monument Valley, one of the most stunning landscapes you will ever see.

Make sure you stay hydrated, at that altitude and in the heat you will get dehydrated quickly.

Tim, feel free to give me a call and I'd be happy to answer any of your questions. I've spend my fair share of time in southern Utah. 801-636-3566

Thanks Jared, I thought you might pop in here.
I will give you a call for sure now that you let me know it is OK.
I am still in the very early stages of planning and have a road atlas and my map source program but waiting for my paper map of Utah.
We will be in Utah in June/July.

Dave, what is Red Lodge

OK looked it up. Looks like a great place to ride but it is about 750 miles out of the way of my probable route

When you get a minute, feel free to read my trip report on my ride through Utah in October of 2007. I'm assuming everything is still there. LOL.

Spent several days in Utah during our 5-week trip doing the Rockies in 2011. Be happy to chat with you about it sometime, although not sure how much more I can add beyond what you already have.

Either way, I posted a link to our trip blog, which has some pretty nice pictures of Arches and Canyonlands. Utah started at the end of July 14th and went through July 16th (archive index on the right hand side).

BTW - The day we were in Arches, it was 122 degrees. We wore our leathers as insulation from the sun, but had those water-soaked neck coolers. Not saying it wasn't hot, but I bet we were cooler than a lot of other folks with the sun beating down directly on their skin.
