Dan's Black Hills off road ride

On one of my first dates with Angie (just celebrated our 32nd), I was following a powerline trail on my Triumph 650. As I was crossing a little stream, I stalled the bike and couldn't get it started again (back in the days of kick-starting)

She had to help me push it out of the creek because I (at that time a strapping young stud) couldn't push it out myself.

All the while I was watching Dan's video, I was thinking-- what would he do if he bogged down? A Nomad probably outweighs 2 Triumphs. I would assume there were no cell towers nearby.

I think you have the best indication of what the challenge was. Having hard packed dirt that has the top moist, or wet vegetation makes sloped edges of a rut, or off camber turns, need a very delicate application of throttle and steering. A smooth line and momentum is the ticket. sounds like you knew what to picture that the video doesn't show :)

Thanks for the video!
The bastards charge you for them too :(

I do consider such things. If I got hurt, I'd be kind of screwed, but if I can walk I can go 20 miles a day. So by sundown I can get out of such places if I can walk.

I have gone 50 miles into dirt road desolation where I haven't passed any other vehicles. That one had me worried a lot more, as it was hot desert on top of it.

Great video and a great ride, Dan. You make it look easy. I wish I could have thought to do that, but I might have still been there. BnG
