I think it finally broke down

The bike just turned 94,000 I am 3 hours away from home in Northampton Massachusetts. the bike that's not want to shift not even into first. It feels very loose and clanks sometimes. this is been going on for at least Twenty Thousand Miles that started to develop a small resistance to the second gear and now I just cannot even shift it. I know this is a job that I cannot do on my own. So the question is how much is this going to cost me???

The cheapest and easiest route is to go with a replacement motor. Then you have your old motor for spare parts.

Broken shift fork that has finally given up after giving you a hard time for 20000+ miles.

Been there done that got the t-shirt!

That engine has to be completely disassembled to replace the fork, and I mean COMPLETELY!

For $4600 you can have a 2008 Nomad with only 52,000 miles on it.
Excellent Condition.

Probably caused by all the left wing whackos in Northamptom. I lived near there for about 400 painful years.

I believe that from 2002-2009 they are the same. That was the run for the 1600 and then they went to the 1700..

Some of the 1600 Nomads have gone over 200,000 miles with nothing but normal maintenance. So, the answer to your question is maybe not.

I've had several 1500/1600's and only had a shift fork problem with one of them.

Any 1600 or 2000 and up FI 1500 will be a direct bolt in.

The only difference would be a MeanStreak engine, their charging system only has 1 stator instead of 2, but can be retrofitted with the parts from your Nomad engine.

SO, get the Vac, get a relation ship going with it, then see if you want to keep the old skoot.

My son bought a Triumph. In less than 2 years he put over 45,000 miles on it.
Then he bought a Kawasaki Concours. That Triumph hasn't been on the road since. Just plugged into the battery tender.
