I don't remember anything bad about the Dutch Bypass (could be wrong), I think he just
stopped making them. Watch e-Bay and buy some used pipes, you will be happier.

Don't gut the stock goat belly. Less power and sounds bad.
Tried it and didn't like it.

If you've done coasters, hollowed out pipes, fuel processor, more or less taken off all the smog crap, some power can be had from getting a good used exhaust system somewhere. You have Jardines, Cobras, V&H's, and a few others....
I hate replacing the exhaust system on my bikes, but, I love to modify and make things. I'm totally into pipe wrapping, chrome just soaks and holds heat....
Get something that catches your eye......, wait for it to pop up on ebay, and snag it like a trap door spider!
A place like fallen cycles is a great place to find header pipes, then you can pick up a good set of harley mufflers....get the whole setup for $100/150 + shipping....

I like the way you think.

One of my many future projects, time is fleeting, is a 2 into 1 exhaust for the Meanie.

Since Pro Pipes are no longer made for the 1500/1600 platform, I have obtained a black Screaming Eagle Street Cannon(?) that has never been installed.

My plan is to either use the V&H Straightshot headpipes or the bagger headpipes and make a 2 into 1 connector to mount to the muffler.

The muffler I have is basically a 4" glasspack.

So I'll see what it takes to remove the glass materials and modify it to accept an Ultimate Baffle.

It should be interesting.

I basically did the same thing on a classic few years back. I cut where the rear cyl. pipe came down, gave it 5" from where the top pipe curved right on top of the front cyl. pipe.
Used the muffler off a older harley, 2 into 1 Jardine, tig'ed to pipes onto the collector, just ahead of the muffler.
I had smoothed the welds slightly, wrapped them w/black heatwrap, coated them with the DEI spray....seemed fine. Owner liked it!
Should sound wicked there MAS with the meanie engine and ultimate baffle!

I'm already running a pair of ultimate's in the baggers.

And, yes, it does have a distinctively different sound thanks to the cams and other added goodies.

I'm hoping that the scavenging effect will outweigh the restriction of using only one can.

That and I just want to get rid of the chrome mufflers, the pipes are wrapped already.

OK Thanks for all the input. Will I hurt the engine if I go with straight header pips No mufflers? Something like drag pipes. I want it obnoxious.

There are the straight shots, yes, you can run open headers and not really damage anything, but you'll actually loose a little performance.
I'm running a old set of V&H bagger headers, wrapped, with long straight pipes w/fishtails at the ends. Just clears the back of the bags.
At the very end, I have a piece with a 1/4" rod welded across its opening up inside the pipe to make it legal... .but its loud as hell.
Running this till my V&H Baggers get back from the platers....having them black chromed....
