Memphis Shade Hand guard mod to fit Vaquero?

Hello,

Like the look of the Memphis Shade Hand Guard, but was designed for HDs.

Considering that it mounts to the mirror and the mirror bolt on a HD is smaller (5/16 I think) than the bolt on the Vaquero (10 mm), I figured I could just bore it out and/or have it tapped for 10 mm threads.

Has anyone done this or has a better suggestion?

If it’s that cold, maybe not ride? Heated gloves?

Not everyone lives where it's 80 -100 degrees. Here in the great white north today the temp is 59 for the high, yesterday was 48. And yes I have heated grips but something like a hand guard would be nice as well.

Awesome!... I love hearing of cooler temps up your way. Means warmer temps are on their way for us down here.

I'll have a dig in the archives... I recall someone posting about hand guards they'd fitted to their 1700 a few years ago.

Edit: Here's a post, which seems to indicate that National Cycle hand guards for a 1600 will fit a 1700 as long as you have mirror extenders fitted?

Looking at National Cycles website, it seems that part number has now been superseded with N5511. If you click the "view application chart" button, you'll see N5511 fits a wide variety of Vulcans.

Your welcome and a little tip, Do not over tighten the Jbug nuts, they are aluminum and subject to stripping very easy.

Save some money and order 2 pair to save on shipping. And do not ask me why, LOL
