Go with the 180 width. 180/70/16. You do know if you buy Cobras, front and rear are both radials?

THANKS THATS WHAT I USE ON MY WING JUST WAS NOT SURE ON THE NOMAD WHETHER IT WOULD FIT OK ON THE NOMAD

THE 180 FIT JUST FINE ON MY 1600. I HAVE SINCE GONE TO A CAR TIRE.

Of all the tires I've ran on the rear of my Nomad, the best MC tire was the 180/70R-16 Avon Cobra. I did have to deflate it to get it between the final drive and the other side of the swing arm, but after that, it fits beautifully. I have since gone with the CT on the rear, but am still running the Cobra 150/80R-16 on the front. When it wears out, I'll replace it with another Cobra.
If you do go with the new Cobras, you'll think your on a different bike. They do make that much of a difference over the stones, or Metzeler 880s, Your going to love them.

I'll echo that.

When I put Avon Cobras on my '08 Nomad, turns that I used to slow down for and that I would have to muscle a countersteer for I could just sail thru smoothly.

These tires seem to hold a line thru turns with ease.

FAR better than the stock Bridgestones.

And they last longer, too.

I have a set of AVON tires on my bike with a little over 12,000 miles and still looks like I can safely get several more thousand miles before I get to the recommended replacement wear bars. Anybody else have a different or better experience with tires?

Is that a problem CJ? I had Cobras front and rear before I went to E-3's.
Right now I have the E-3 on front and a new Cobra 180/70x16 on the rear.

I have 9000 on my rear cobra with 4/32 left

I have 20,000 kms on my front Cobra and 17,000 kms on the rear. I hope to get the rest of the season out of them (October).

I'm running a Avon Venom rear tire on the front and a Bridgestone CT on the rear of my Nomad. That is an excellent combination as far as handling is concerned. However, the Bridgestone Turanza is wearing fast. Continental Vanco is going on next.

I just put on a Cobra today on the front. What pressure are you running? I put it to 38 psi but was just curious what everyone has theirs at. Got a Dunlop SP5000 on the rear.

I thought my Avon 180/60 16R (GL1800 size) Venom radial tire with about 12,000 miles might make it OK 'til next month, but last weekend something took a bit of a chunk out of the tire tread toward the side. It was on borrowed time so I am happy with it's longevity and it was a clearance priced item when i bought it for $130 shipped. With the 180/60 I get a bit of stock tailpipe scrape so today the Cobra 180/70 R goes on. The front is a stock size Cobra radial. My local independent bike shop sold me the Cobra 180/70R-16 for $223 mounted and balanced on my wheel including tax.

I run 36 and 40 psi front and rear respectively.
