CJ's Official Antlers Rally thread
I am starting this thread to report on my trip to the Antlers Rally in less than 2 weeks.
Here's my itinerary: Mon, Sept 30 - depart Chandler AZ on US-60 E to Socorro, NM. Tues, Oct 1 - depart Socorro on US-60 E to Amarillo, TX. Wed, Oct 2 - depart Amarillo on I-40 E to Oklahoma City, then south to Antlers. Thu, Oct 3 through Sat, Oct 5 - Antlers Rally Sunday, Oct 6 - depart Antlers to Dallas, then I-20 W to Abilene. Monday, Oct 7 - Depart Abilene on I-20, then north at Big Spring to Alamogordo, NM Tue, Oct 8 - depart Alamogordo on US-70 west to Chandler, AZ That's 2328 miles round trip, plus mileage in and around Antlers for 3 days. Basically the same loop as last year, only this time I am traveling clockwise. Not too many route choices out here in the West.

Ride safe. See you there. I'm heading out Saturday to visit a college in Jacksonville that my son might apply to then go 300 to 400 miles a day to DFW airport to pick up my wife on Wed Oct 2. Then I enjoy the rally w her and drop her off again on Sun so I get a nice slow ride home. As I write this I just rode my Nomad 350 miles today with my youngest son and am relaxing at a Hilton Garden Inn enroute to the SE rally in Blairsville Ga. Life is good

Made it to Socorro. Weather was great, if not a bit cool above 7000'. Only bad part was about 25 miles of fresh chip seal on US-60 in New Mexico. Posted speed was 45 mph. I am going to go next door to the steakhouse and have a nice steak dinner.

I am at the Best Western in Amarillo. Temps were in the mid to upper forties when I started out this morning, stopped for gas in Vaughn NM and it was in the seventies. Stopped for gas and lunch in Clovis and it was starting to get hot. US-60 across NM has to be one of the most desolate roads in the USA. I rode over 100 miles and saw maybe half a dozen cars. 60 has a 44 mile stretch that is 50 mph. Rode about 388 miles today.

Oh yeah... called my wife from Clovis and she got rear ended on her way to work this morning. That's two times she's been hit since she bought the car new in June.
