Fender tips

Pictures of the cast aluminum chrome finish rear fender tip I purchased to cover up the chips on my fender. You can get them from these guys http://store.valueaccessories.net/fendertips-2.aspx for $76.05 with free shipping. They also have the matching ones for the front fender (front and rear of fender) for $58.15 each also with free shipping. It is a nice heavy piece of trim with a very shiny chrome finish. It involves drilling (2) 7/32 holes on each side of the fender at the front of the trim. Took me all of 15 minutes to mount it. Stainless screws, washers, and lock nuts come with it. Gotta get the front ones now....the front fender looks naked without them.

Mitch, They do set things off nicely don't they. You must have noticed mine in Custer :). The front is a must now, although, I've passed on the front rear, maybe I'm missing something but just seems hidden compared to the other two.

One thing about the front tips.....They require you drill three holes. There is a bolt welded to the center of them. They come with a template and are a little trickier than the rear. Double and triple check the placement BEFORE you drill. The front tips fit both the 1500 and the 1600. I almost sent mine back thinking I was sent the wrong item.

Do yourself another favor....go to your local H-D shop and get longer bolts for the sides. The ones included with the front tips are too short to go through the tips and the fender. The lip of the fender is doubled over so it's more than twice as thick. The location of the holes are such that it catches the folded portion. You need bolts that are about 1/8 inch longer than the stock ones. I just took the kit ones with me and they matched them up for me. Plus they are chrome instead of stainless and have a hex head. Pretty nice.

Last thing, it'll be easier if you take the front fender off to mount them. It's only four bolts and slide it out.

Thanks for the valuable input Russ. I'll remember that before mounting the front one.

Ells, I think I remember noticing yours in Custer. I looked at so many Nomads that I can't remember what mods were on what bikes. I'll definitely get the front fender (front) tip and decide later on the rear piece.

Mitch, I have a few chips on the lip of my front fender and have been thinking about chrome tips for both front and back. I'm still leary of drilling holes. Once you've done that there's no going back. I'll keep this under advisement as they do add some classy bling!

Some undercoat these days is as good as glue, and or you could probably use 3-M emblem clear glue to mount these.

Anyone living in a rust belt area like me would be well advised to fill the channel with one or another rust proofing and just clean up any topside excess.

Brad, The drilling is a snap. Wrap the nose of the fender with masking tape where the tip will contact it. It took two rows of tape. Center up the tip on the fender and with a sharp #2 pencil trace the hole on the tape and drill it. The tape holds the bit until it starts itself into the fender. I will occasionally remove the tip to investigate for any rust starting. I don't think it will be a problem over here as they never need to salt the roads for ice in the tropics.

Hey Cajunrider where did you get those bezels on your rear turn signals. I would like to add some of those to my 07 as well.

Dennis, They came with the Kuryakyn Run/Turn/Stop light module. I got the kit from Cruiser Customizing. I picked up the matching set for the front turn signals at the same place.
