I would also like to see how much clearance between the tire and the driveshaft. I was worried that with two up or when hitting bumps the tire might rub on the driveshaft, but so far I have not experienced any rubbing in any condition. Maybe when the tire flattens out more on the bottom, it stays the same width on the rest of the circumference. I don't know.

Sure is some wicket tight Mista'..

That dirt on the drive tube, or bits of tire?!!!!!

You need to go riding with Dan Lund, so you can burn off the sidewalls a bit! LOL...

Hey Mac, that's probably dirt, I hadn't took the time to clean around that there drivetube until after I had started putting her back together, I know that looks mighty close but that there tire wasn't aired up yet, its still pretty close though but it went away from the drivetube after it was inflated. I've put about 200miles on it so far and it hasn't made a mark on the tire? Anywho hopefully I'll still be on her at the Rally, are you coming? That would be a good excuse for you to get down south and get warmed-up with-out having to even burn any of that firewood! [GOOSE]

As you go faster doesn't the circumference of the tire get larger as the width gets smaller.

Also can you put a car tire on the front?

Installed Dunlop SP5000 195/60R-16 car tire today. There's approx 1/4+" clearance between tire and driveshaft. Hard to measure but, plenty of room. Not close at all on the right, swingarm side.

Tire seated right at 60 lbs of pressure. Probably would have been less with warmer temp and warmer tire.

Because of 25-30MPH winds and high 30's temp, didn't get a chance to put many miles on it.
I am starting out over inflating the tire with 40lbs. Will break-in the tire at that pressure and after 500 or so miles I plan to lower air in 2lb increments looking for the sweet spot which will be somewhere in the 30 to 36lb area.

In fact, I was so damn cold, forgot to turn the GPS on to check speedo error. I assume though, its probably back to about 9-10% off.

More later.....

Hey Dixie looks like you'll be ready to go on the 28th. That will be a good break-in for that tire!haha You got any pictures of that installation? [GOOSE]

Hey BOB don't think I'll be the first to try that CT on the front? That would be one of those deals where the old phrase (Hold My Beer and Watch This) is appropriate! [GOOSE]

Thanks lonewolf....you know you are "partly" responsible. Appreciate your comments weeks ago, or was it months, in helping me finally pulling the trigger and ordering CT.
So far, so good. Put another 40-50 miles on it today. Taking it easy and just trying to get use to it.

Maybe I'll follow Goose around next weekend......and see how an expert does on the curves on Helen mountain.

You got that right expert, or should I say "EX-SPERT" is more like it?[GOOSE]

I've put over 100 miles on CT so far. Remember, I'm running high air pressure to break-in the tire. Only negative I've found is a pronounced feel you need more countersteer.....or is it just the feeling? Bike doesn't just flow into a corner like before, you have to "plant" it. Takes a litttle more effort to hold a line. The "experts" on the Darkside forum say this is normal and will handle better when air pressure is lowered.

Did run it up to 95MPH with no sign of any high speed wobble. That's fast enough for me.

Couple positives I have noticed; in my area the state/county have used tart and gravel to "temporarily" repaired roads until money is available to asphalt. What these patches do is create strips, raised tracks that motorcycle tires just don't like. I've tried to ride these "raised edges" and the CT handles them like a dream. Much better than with M/C tire.

The other positive is a CT loves rolling along at 75-80 on the 4 lane with winds being much less of a problem.....and we have had high winds for last few days. Very stable.

More later......

Goose.....what air pressure are you running?

It does on top fuel dragsters. They have really soft sidewalls, though. I doubt the centrifugal force on a motorcycle tire increases the circumference much.

Hey Dixie, I put my DynaBeads in today and reset my pressure at 35psi, started out at 45psi when I 1st installed the CT, but didn't like the way it handled at low speed, then started there reducing pressure as I went along riding and liked the way it handled at 35psi it suits the way I ride at lower speeds, I can't even tell that it has a CT on it. Haven't ridden it out on the interstate at high speed yet, although have had it up to about 110mph briefly and it did great![GOOSE]
