TFI Settings for 1500/1600 Nomad

Thanks Mitch.
How do you like the sound of the debaffled mufflers? Others have said they are still quiet enough to have a conversation with a passenger at highway speeds? I don't plan on gutting the goat belly, you didn't either did you? Also, I did not punch thru the plates that set behind the stock baffles. Let us know what TFI settings you finally settle on. I'm really looking forward to installing my debaffled mufflers and the TFI this coming weekend.

Thanks again!
Glenn

Hi. The debaffled mufflers are not much noisier than stock, just a different tone. I found it hard enough to hold a conversation even with the stock mufflers. The TFI makes all the difference to the performance, the debaffled mufflers, nothing you can notice.

Glen, the de-baff stocks are so quiet you can hear a pin drop. if thats what you like, you will like them.

Doc, then why are many riders even going through the effort. Just curious as it seems like we're just wasting our time and ruining a perfectly good set of stock mufflers. Is there really any advantage to doing this?
Thanks.
Glenn

Hi, The only difference you will notice is a slightly louder exhaust note. If that is what your after then do it. If you want a lot louder (and the expense) buy aftermarket. If you are unsure check out Youtube to hear the debaffled muffler (and others) online.

its a few dB louder but not alot. Listen to a video first then decide. I wanted louder so went with V&H.

Claybuster. I think what you may be trying to find out, is why people gut the goats bladder, That is to help performance with the caddmann and tfi. The noise level doesn't change that much but it is a different tone. That Is why I did it anyway and I like the results

Back on TFI settings, 3:15, 4:30, 1:00, and 9:00 is where I'm at now. Took a 255 mile 2 up ride today and got 37.76 mpg on 87 octane. 70% of the riding was twisty 2 lane roads with the rest 70 mph 4 lane. My wife says she heard a little pinging climbing a tall and steep Mississippi River bridge on the way back. I couldn't hear it with my ear plugs in. Temperature was 83 degrees. I've noticed much better low end torque and much smoother operation between the lower gears. I can now take off from a traffic light with very little throttle at lower engine idle speed than before the TFI. The fan did not kick on other than while idling and making adjustments on the 1st and 2nd pots. I'm very happy with the TFI. It was money well spent. Thanks to all for their suggestions.

Good Job terrebonne.. My fan's only come on once in 6 months. Just having a much cooler running motor was worth the investment! Regular gas and no ping was an added bonus.
