Nomad "Dark Side" car tire

Someone has finally put a car tire on a 1600 shaft drive Vulcan. Very interesting reading as lot's of riders from Gold Wings to Vulcan V2K and more are running car tires on their bikes.

2 big advantage is a lot more rubber on the ground and 30K mile tire life at a lower initial ($100) price.

I have plenty of tread left on the stock stones but.........I sure do like to tinker!!!!!

Car tires are flat on the bottom...doesn't that make it hard to roll into a turn and I don't think car tires are made to run on the side wall. But someone will do it and prove me wrong!

Yes Bob if you clicked on the link you see that this has been done for years! 90% never go back to a motorcycle tire. Reports are the initial turn in requires a little more effort but there are tons of links showing video of guys really cranking over their bikes with car tires and they hold up fine.

I've read a lot about this too... the car tire flexes so you stay on the tread and don't go onto the sidewall.... they run low psi .... pretty cool... :) :)

Has anyone here put a car tire on a Nomad? This peaked my interest mostly because I'm a tight wad. Penny pincher, frugal, cheap.

I like the way it looks but I won't try it 'till BD tests it and gives everyone the OK :)

I read up on it on the Dark Side and I'm going to do it when I buy a new tire this spring. Just need to do some research on tire size and make. I like the idea of 3 or 4 times the miles on a set of rubber and better stopping and traction. I'm sold.

If the timing is right I think I might do it too.

Check this out. Don't know how much pressure this guy has in the tire.
