If I had gone to a car tire in January I probably wouldn't have been replacing the tire already. I could have maybe gotten another 1k-2k out of the Cobra, if not for the nail.

Looks good CJ. I plan to do the same tire whenever my 880 wears out. It may be awhile before that happens. I will order that CT to have it on hand. Who knows, I may get a nail too.

I spoke with the owner of the shop that mounted my rear tire and serviced my driveshaft and swingarm. I asked him if he would mount a car tire on my Nomad when my rear tire is due. He asked what kind and size tire I wanted to mount. I told him it would be a Dunlop SP 5000 195/60-R16 and he said no problem. The only thing he asks is that I sign a liability disclaimer for him. I gave him the same "no problem" answer. Are those Dunlops easy to get?

Brad, I was looking at the SP 5,000's. What's the difference between the Symetrical, asymetrical, ride on flat, etc. I think the size I would go with would be the 195/60 for pulling the trailer. Any taller would more than likely bog me down pulling uphill. You agree?

terrebonne_nomad (cajunrider) , Another guy here pmed to me asking about this add

http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?ds....&nichtweite r=1

That is what Cj just got, and I have had 1 year now.

That is a far better price than I paid at apx $115.00 from the Tire Rack..

I would say if you want the darkside and the Dunlop, you just bought tire..... You can't beat that I don't think.

+1 with mac.

Mitch, some guys buy "run flat" tires. these can be used up to 50 mph so they say.

Practically 100% of the all season tires are non-directional and symmetrical. That means it doesn't matter how you mount them, they will look and act the same.

The way to tell if you have something other than a non-directional or symmetrical tire is to look on the sidewall for an arrow or lettering the says "This Side Out".

If you have an arrow, you have directional tires, and the arrow has to point in the direction of rotation. These types of tires are directional for wet and snow traction enhancements.

If you have "This Side Out", you have asymmetrical tires and they have to be mounted with the proper side out. These types of tires feature enhanced traction, wear, and handling.

Clear as mud?

Much clearer than Mac's website he sent. I can speak english and french. But no german. From what I can tell, I will need to get a symmetrical 195/60-R16. Total from Tire Rack is a little over $140 which includes the shipping.

This is some interesting threads I found on a silver-wing forum concerning insurance and darksiding. We talked about this a few weeks ago and it may answer some of our questions.

German? I don't see it in German.
http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?ds....&nichtweite r=1

I'll check it again. What I see is a dunlop tire just like Cj's and mine, for the lowest price i have ever seen.

I am sorry about that, and I don't read or speak any German, other than a few swear words.

On Edit: I see that in English, and hope anyone else does too.
