How will you mount the extra brake caliper to the Drifter forks ? Are you saying the Classic wheel (with the spacers) is 300mm wide or that the Classic 1600 brake discs are 300mm in diameter ?

Do you plan to use the 1600 wheel and brakes on the Drifter? A factory mag wheel on the front and a wire wheel in the back? Your choice for sure but it would be a weird combination. All the 1500 and 1600 Classic and Nomad had 300mm disc diameter. All the Mean Streaks had 320mm disc. None of the Classic, Nomad or Mean Streak had smaller discs. Don't mean to rain on your idea, but the stock Drifter front wheel and fork legs don't allow for a dual disc system. And its not as simple as using a Classic front wheel to have a disc to mount on the other side.

If you get a set of Classic 1600 fork legs/brake rotors/calipers, they "might" fit into the triple clamps of the 800 Drifter. That would allow you to use the front wheel and dual discs, but you'll also need the 1600 front axle shaft, spacers. You'd also have to change out the 800 hand brake master cylinder for the master cylinder from a dual disc bike. If you try to use a single brake master cylinder on a dual disc setup it will feel like way over sensitive power brakes. The master cylinder piston in a single disc system is larger diameter than the piston in a dual disc system. For a dual disc system the master cylinder piston is smaller diameter so the lever effort to brake feel is balanced. A lot more goes into making a dual disc system than just finding another same diameter disc and mounting it on the wheel.

If you are determined to put dual discs on a Drifter 800, use the whole front end, meaning everything from the steering head down to the tire from a 1999 VN1500 Classic, along with the front brake master cylinder and hoses. The 99 1500 Classic had dual 280mm discs. Then modify the Drifter front fender and sheet metal to mount onto the VN1500 front forks/wheel assembly. That would be the easiest way to get dual discs on a Drifter with the classic look of the Drifter front end.
