I think that most have jumped ship to the Facebook page. I personally like the forum structure over Facebook

I'm sorry to say I think it's wrong that people going to facebook shouldn't pull people off this site for multiple reasons. This is a motorcycle/nomad site. What's going on?

I do both, but this is more reliable information, searchable, easy to save things for later ( Maintenance I will need to do, problems I may incur, ECT)

I like the fact we call each other out over incorrect information. (I am Guilty, yet glad to not pass on wrong information) We keep it honest.

Or is it, I am just old and comfortable with the way things used to be?

Looks like one long trip Minneapolis to Florida in 22 and a few weekend Camping trips locally.

the biggest challenge I am facing with this years mods is the Reckless fairing on the 1700 Nomad . to clear the trees risers etc. they stood the fairing up and away which looks stupid IMHO . I am going to mount the inner only and mark/cut/recess the area under the radio to lay the fairing back where it belongs then fiberglass in a box and repaint it . before fitting the outer back on . Pray for Me !!!

Check first if that fairing is ABS plastic. If it is, much better to make your mods using ABS sheet stock. ABS can be bent, shaped with heat, and bonded with ABS plumbing solvent or Acetone which is basically what ABS plumbing solvent is.

Once ABS is bonded with Acetone it basically becomes one piece. ABS can also be heat welded using a 1500 watt soldering iron and ABS filler rod (from Harbor Freight). Sure fiberglass work too, but it still only bonded like glue or adhesive to plastic. ABS becomes one just like welding steel to steel.

ABS sheet stock in various thicknesses are easy to find on ebay, and with some careful shopping there are good deals to grab. Just watch the shipping costs which can be much higher than need to be.

In 2010 Reckless fairings were Fiberglass with Gell coat. I used a marine armorall called "303" kept the gel coat from sun fade on my 2007 1500 Classic till 2016 when I got the Vaquero.
