windshield and seat mod

Went for a 60 mile ride today on the modified seat and layed back windshield. It was hard to really judge the seat on such a short ride, but it felt better than the stock seat. I really liked the layed back windshield. It cut down on wind and noise. We're riding 300 plus miles in the morning so I'll know how the seat feels.

Just did the seat mod last night. Replaced the stock foam with memory foam and gel. Will check it out this weekend. Let us know how you like yours.

Hi Rich, Here's the thread about the laid back windshield:

http://kawanow.proboards77.com/index...ead=1206540686

It's one of the mods from Gadget's Fix-it site. You can find the link on the http://www.kawanow.org site along with a bunch of others or here's the direct link:

The layed back windshield works. It changes the air flow and makes riding at highway speeds much more comfortable. CHECK clearance between the windshield bracket and the tank before you make it permenant. Put a towel over the front of the tank or you'll be buying touch up paint.

good to hear oldbiker. My only concern is riding in the rain, will the laid back shield divert rain right into your face?? Thx

Doc,
I was doing about 65 MPH and put my hand above the windshield to see how the air was passing over it. It goes nearly straight up and over my head. Should improve riding in the rain. The clearance thing is tricky. I've only got about .100 between the bracket and the tank.

OB, don't suppose you're in the mood to make a couple more of those brackets?

Old Biker, how tall are you, and what's your inseam. Just trying to see if we are anywhere near the same in the torso.

I know that when something is straight up like our windshields, it has a lot of turbulence behind it. In the tub, put your hand vertical and move fairly slow through the water, there are a lot of vortices behind it.

Being 6'1" and a half, I'm hoping it will work for me too.

OB, did you have the wife on the bike? What does she think? Is it better for her or worse or the same?
