Are you really sure you want "extreme personal opinions"? I'm really surprised the responses, thus far, have been mild and on topic. I wouldn't have given a title and question like this more than one or two before it degenerated.

For me, just knit boxers and Diamond Gusset jeans do just fine. The DG jeans have a "diamond gusset" sewn in the crotch area to give you more room without binding while sitting. Much like the Ballroom Jeans from Duluth. Here's a link for both:

I've bought from both companies and they are great to work with. DG will call you if you order an "off" size and see what you need before they ship. For instance, I take a 33 inch leg. They called five minutes after I placed an internet order. The lady was going to go out on the floor and measure the legs. She said they didn't have 33's in stock right then so she wondered if a long 32 or a short 34 would work. I said I'd trust her opinion as to which was closer to 33. She sent "short" 34's since she knew I rode (it came out in conversation) and the longer leg would be better on the bike.

Don't use that as an indicator of poor quality or workmanship. It got me wondering, so I measured the jeans in my closet. Each pair was a different length. They were Levis and Carhartt, major manufacturers. I have to say, I like the DG jeans.

"Tested as 'perfect' for a ride of 10,636 miles in less than a week." I gotta call BS on that. That's 1520 miles/day for 7 days straight.Even averaging 70 mph (which isn't gonna happen), that's almost 22 hours of driving every day. Unless they're on the run from the cops, nobody's gonna do that. That's even beyond Iron Butt territory (averages 1000 miles/day).

It's not BS. It's the Iron Butt Rally, I would imagine...Some people can do it, some do it. Generally speaking, the cruiser crowd doesn't ride like that.

I read the IBA web page before I responded. Their general "rule" is 1000 miles in 1 day (or variation of that theme). There's a 10k miles in 10 day run but nothing like 10k miles in less than 7 days. Without excessive speeding (which seems to be against the IBA rules), there's just no way you're gonna ride 22 hours/day for an entire week unless you're on the run from the cops. I didn't average 1500 miles/day all week when I was driving a truck (and getting paid damn well for it).

As much as I hate to agree with MonkeyMan, I think he is right.
There is no freekin' way a person is going to do 1520 miles/day for 7 days straight. Not going to happen.

You'd have a hard time doing that in a car, let alone a motorcycle.

I also vote for the UnderArmour or similar brand compression shorts. A bit of hand cream with Aloe to prevent monkey butt and I'm good for those 400-500 mile days.

If you ride in the northern parts of the northern hemisphere
(alaska and canada) in the summer, there is plenty of day light for riding.

First to the original quesiton, UnderArmour on any ride of over 200 miles. I am going to get the LDComfort shorts though. UA has a seam that runs up the back that digs in to my bum and it gets irritating after about 300 or so miles.

Second, there were riders that did 13K+ miles during this year's IBR, one with over 14K. Granted, that is 11 days but there are mandatory rest periods at two check points and optional rest time for points during the 3 legs of the rally, so it ends up being around 9 1/2 to 10 days. 1,300 plus a day.

I personally know a rider that just did 4,600 in 3 days recently, and another that did the Lap of Florida Insanity ride (32 hours to get in about 1900 miles, with about 350 on two lane roads). I think 10K in 7 is a little bit over the top at 1400+ a day.

John Ryan did the prudhoe to key west in 86 hours. That's 5600 miles in 86 hours and that is with stops/sleep. That's 1562.79 miles a day. I think it's nuts, but it can be done.
