Superstition
Ok some of us are supersticious and don't even know it.
What is the one thing that you never leave without? And I don't mean your American Express card. What "thing" will you never ride without? Or if not supersticious, what personal rule do you always follow when you ride. I have a rule. I never go anywhere on a motorcycle, even just around the block, without full length pants and good sturdy boots or shoes. No shorts. I won't allow my wife to wear them either. I never ride without my keys.
Common sense dictates wearing pants and suitable footwear. It just kills me to see some young teenage girl on the back of a Ninja or GXSR wearing shorts and flip-flops. Well, I like seeing that actually, but not risking her skin or her life on the back of a sportbike. I'm not superstitious.

Or at least FEEL 25 years younger right? WHen I see that I always figure she's either dumb or she REALLY likes him. Cause no intelligent girl that I know will even ride on a sport bike with full gear. Those things should not have a pillion seat.

I never leave without my gear on, and I never intentionally leave without spending some time praying, asking the Lord to help me to ride wisely, and to keep me safe.

rksaw, that one pissed me off when I saw it before. Look at her elbows and chin hit the pavement, and then know that she slid that way down the road a ways.
What an idiot boyfriend. |

Dan, I agree. The first time I saw that video it made me feel sick to my stomach - still does. I see that sort of riding all the time, especially in the beach area. Thankfully, I haven't witnessed the kind of tragedy that befell that poor girl.
As far as superstitions, I guess I don't have any. Although, I've never let my black Nomad cross my path... |

At least she had a helmet to protect her face!
My opinion only: Any guy who values and respects women would do his best to protect her while she is on his bike. That would mean not pulling wheelies, nor letting her get on with shorts, etc. Just my opinion.

Not really superstitious, but we always strap our frog to the bike for any trip, short or long. He was given to us by one of our Biker friend couples. It's an acronym, F.R.O.G.
Fully rely on God. Keeps us honest and careful.

The first time I saw the video of that jerk dumping that girl on the ground my immediate reaction was to want to find him and beat the tar out of him with a length of garden hose filled with lead shot.
Upon reflection I decided that would be an un-christian response. Therefore, I would remove at least half of the lead shot and then beat the tar out of him. Since I can't really do that, I at least hope that she got a good lawyer and sued him for every penny he will ever make! It should be open and shut, good evidence available for court.
