Ocala area info needed, please.

Hello all and Happy belated New Year.
Due to changes in our life, we are going to sell our property in Tennessee. We are going to miss it very much as it was our retirement dream area.
But now we are realizing we need to stay closer to where we are so we are looking at the Ocala area. But wow, where do you start?
Our interests are ... riding ( both the Nomad and a KLR 650 I want so bad) canoeing, fishing, walking trails, county and state parks & forests, ... just a quiet & simple life.

But, our wants are ... about 1 or 2 acres, Trees on the lot, close to Ocala for the medical and other things. We would like to be about 10 - 15 minutes from town. We were there last weekend and drove through HWY 40 but heard of nice areas on the NE side of Ocala.

Anyone able to steer is for more research or know of a area that may be of interest.? Sorry this is so long winded but we are just starting to look and would like to have more options.

Even though I am really close to Ocala, I'm not real familiar with the real estate of the area. I know a bunch about the riding in the area, not much about homes and such. There is a web site called Ocala4sale that has some private listings.

Ocala is a huge area and Lots of the stuff you like. It is central to everything except Miami and Key West.

I am not sure how to read your post. Are you looking for a Home with a couple acres of land in the Ocala area? Or are you looking for a couple acre lot that you could put a RV of some kind on? I took it as the couple acre lot but I could be wrong.
A bit east of Ocala on Hwy 35 and about 3 miles south of Hwy 40 is where State Road 314 ends. Get on it and go north and east. It will take you up through the national forest. There are a lot of places on it for sale. They range from just land to improved lots to home sites with small trailer homes and if you want there are even a couple multi million dollar horse ranches for sale. I drive that road all the time when I visit family in Ocala so if you buy something I'll stop and say hello sometime.

I am looking for either the nicer vacant land OR the lot with the small home/cabin/cottage. We can use it for now and in future years we can add on to make it suit our needs.
If we had 1-2 acres, it would be great.
I want to be 'close' to Ocala but there is SO much for us in the Ocala National Forest that we would have no problem being in there.
