It might be awhile before we hear any news from the guys down there. I imagine power is out in a widespread area. Hopefully all is well with them.

brother JD in Channelview is doing OK. Lots of wind and rain. power went at midnight so he just went to bed. called about 8am and texted a bit ago cuz signal is low. That's East side of Houston, I-10 and beltway 8.

We had sustained winds over 40 mph and gusts over 60 mph for over 16 hours over here. The storm surge has inundated the lower part of Terrebonne Parish with several feet of water. I can only imagine how it was in Galveston and southwestern Louisiana.

JD lost a few shingle and messed up a few trees. Neighbors carport poked a hole in the roof of JDs truck... he said he was looking for duct tape. He helped a neighbor cut up trees and another neighbor BBQd and fed them so he aint gonna waste away....unless he runs out of coffe! Electricity is off but water is OK. Guy who work for the waterwork and a pumpstation both on the block. Generators running the pumps.

Came out ok Y'all. Lost a roof vent on my house and some fence damage. My neighbor lost some shingles, but I've already got my vent and his shingles put back on. I ran a generator so me and my neighbor could power our essentials. Power was restored in my area last night, but there's still a LOT of tree damage and structure damage around..... traffic lights being out and such. All in all...we dodged a big one!!!

Power is still off in the hood, but the station power was restored yesterday afternoon. We survived the storm with only a few shingles lost on about 8' of one hip ridge. The rest of my neighborhood didnt fair so well. We saw 85-90 sustained according to reports from the city's EOC.

They toned us in at 130 Friday afternoon and we were here or out in it through Sunday afternoon. Our radio system took some damage somewhere and dispatching isnt 100% still today so we are running standby crews. For a while 911 system was down and calls were eventually routed through the County's 911 call takers and then routed through to our dispatchers. Hopefully they will be able to identify the cause and strengthen the system to prevent a recurrence.

We watched the first half of IKE looking out the back West side bay doors of the station. Then went out in the eye for recon, and watched the other half out the Front or eastern bay doors. The back half of the storm appeared & sounded much stronger than the front at least from our perspective.

I left and stood in line from 430-700 Sunday morning to get a generator and get the fridge & deep freeze back online.
After the initial shock and acclimatization even a cold shower feels pretty good.

I'll likely not have much time to watch the boards until things return to normal here and at work, but appreaciate the prayers and good thoughts from the group during this stressful time.

LW
