Heading to Daytona?

Hey all.
Went for a ride today and saw LOTS of bikes on the road. We are 157 miles due south of the speedway on the east coast of Florida.
Please ride safe. Already saw a triple fatality Saturday. The bikes were on the side of the highway stopped to stretch. A total NUT came flying down I-95 and swerved into the emercency lane and plowed all three. The car driver had minor injuries. Other car drivers were calling 911 reporting the bad driver as wreckless but it was all too late.
Also remember, the tourist season is in full swing. A lot of our older senior residents are here and may not see you. Be careful.
Not trying to dampen anyones plans... Just I want us all to be safe to ride another day.

I hear you frlnomad. We are heading over tomorrow from the west coast. Going over SR 42 to Deland and then into Daytona. We are going to be extra careful for sure.

Heading to Daytona?

When we road back from Daytona to Orlando on Saturday there was a biker down too. It looked like a passenger had fallen off the high perch on a sport bike. The person was on the ground at the entrance to a gas station and emergency medical was on the scene. There was no helmet on the head or near by.

It got me to thinking about helmets. Even a drop from a sport bike perch at low speeds without a helmet could be serious. I think I'll keep wearing mine!

Ride Safely!!!!!

Wearing a helmet always seems like a smart thing to do, especially with so many idiots on the road who don't pay attention to what's happening around them.

Dang, wish I could get over that way on Friday but I will have missed the last two days of work already (took Friday off to be at a football clinic in Orlando and tomorrow to ride over to Daytona). Ride safe!

Hey Coach and DavidJones1;
Coach, There is a article in Rider about a neat ride around Palatka area. If I can find it and get some time off, we may be able to meet. It looks nice .
Also, David, If you get the chance, Go to Archies' Seabreeze at the Ft.Pierce Inlet on A1A south. Only a few miles from Vero and a NICE ride down A1A to get there. 20 minutes from me and a no attitudes place. Always bike friendly. After the hurricanes, lots of volunteers helped rebuild it. Where in Tennessee are you? We have some land in Dunlap.

No, look at Rider mag, December 2007, page 74 - 76. Citra, Rodman, Green cove springs, Starke, Hawthorne etc. Looks like a nice Old Florida ride.

Ohhhhh... I know that area too! Citra is about 40 miles from me. It is a cool area for sure.
