Air Filter Suggestions

I have a 2001 Nomad 1500FI and I'd like to replace the air filter. The OEM filters are pricey. Is there an aftermarket equivalent I can use?

Thanks,

Gary

Yes, if your running your stock dog bowls, theres a K&N equivalent thats avail. at most stores that carry the K&N filters. Just take your stock filter in to the auto parts store and have them match it up....
ACDelco, Fram, and others have stock paper elements that will fit, too, if thats the way you wanna roll....
If your looking for a good quailty custom replacement for the stock air cleaner system, be advised, you'll also have to get a EFI Controller like the Dobek, Wild Thing, etc.
A good quality system is by Chuckster, comes with a permanent (lifetime) K&N filter, base plate, all the screws, and fittings, etc. Also comes with very complete install instructions, too....for the mechanically challenged....

I switched to a K&N a couple of years ago... No regrets.

DragonLady is right about the EFI add on. I added one to my 02 Nomad last winter.. My Oh My, what a difference! They turn the beast loose. Your bike will run like it was designed and engineered to. Before MA Kawasaki de-tuned it to meet EPA regulations. No regrets there either....

I don't believe there is... But a quick Google search will drag up all the places that have them avaliable. I picked mine up from Amazon. I went with a Wiseco that featured plug n play connections to the injectors. There are several brands that are basically the same insides with different names on them. A seach of this forum will find multiple threads on this topic and on setting numbers. I found it to be the biggest single improvement that I've made to my bike without breaking into the engine.

Ride safe.

I have been using HiFlo filters for a few years now. They the serve the purpose excellent and I have not been disappointed in the quality nor the usage of such.

As far as the flash. It really depends on what you expect to gain from flashing a 1500. They say if you add a BAK, change the pipes, and add a fuel controller you can gain 10- 15 percent more performance. If nothing else the additional $1200.00 you would spend on getting that extra boost would be good for the economy.

You don't flash the 1500's, you install a EFI Controller.....
