Vaquero Saddle Bag door strap removal

Good morning folks. I got tapped in the saddle bag yesterday which will require replacing said bag. The door is attached by the hinges ( no problem) and a strap on either side that attaches the door to the bag itself. Looks like some sort of rivet holding those straps in place. Anyone have any expertise in removing and replacing said straps?

Rivets can only be removed by drilling the center portion out

Drill out & replace. Make sure to use a washer on them also.

Drill the rivet on the bag NOT the door.

You can't get to the back side of the door to put a washer on the rivet, and the rivet will NOT hold without it.

Guess who found out the hard way?

But, you can use a short well nut like on a HD windshield if you have drilled the door rivet.
