Rough day to ride around here today...only high 70's...brrr! Had a RTE with about 20 people. Then went and got my friend's BMW 1200LT. Gonna ride it this week to see if I like it. All told, rode about 130 miles.

They don't make it anymore, but it is a very good bike. Lighter than the gold wing, but heavier than the K1600. I think you'll like it, but it'll be different than anything else you have ridden.

What no Nomad, Vaquero. or Voyager Dang Ponch, you can't change us all with one post. BTW, your bias is showing. . .

I won't be getting rid of the KawaTanker. This is a dear friend's bike. He passed away in October and his wife wants me to ride it to see if I like it. We are going to use it for awhile and decide if it is a suitable 2nd steed for the garage.

No bias on my part. It's not my fault they didn't test every touring rig. Even so, Motorcycle Cruiser tested a few touring rigs recently, including the Voyager and tested the Vaquero in a separate test against the Roadglide custom and the Kawasaki's didn't fair well against the competition. On the other hand, they offer great value for the cost.

Comparing the LT with a Nomad is not a apples to apples comparison. They are two different kind of bikes. That said, Coach A will have found a great bike for Iron Butting if he decides to keep it.

02 BMW. I have ridden numerous BMW's: LT, RT, GT, GS. The LT or the Honda Goldwing are the top two-up touring rigs by most accounts.

On the IBA side of things, I have the KawaTanker all set up for that except for some additional forward lighting...but that is coming.

Won't get to ride today as it is raining. Did a short 11 mile ride yesterday. Felt good even though it was only 49 degrees.

Got about 5 miles from the house and Tammy started to feel sick, so we came home.
