Darkside problem

Ok, so I decided to try a 205/60R-16 KUMHO ECSTA LX PLATINUM XL rear tire on my 13 Nomad 1700. I had it installed on Tuesday and rode home with no problems and liked the feel. I didn't ride Wednesday. When I wanted to ride on Thursday, it was completely flat. I pumped it up to 40 lbs. and when I got up today, it was flat again. Possibly I picked up a nail, but I don't know and don't think so. The shop says they had no problem getting the tire to fit the rim and I plan haul it back to let them check it out.

Has anyone had a problem installing a 205/60R-16 when it would not hold air? It seems I read a thread a while back about someone who had this problem, but I can't find the thread. Does anyone have a thought on this?

Haven't done this myself, but from what I've read, getting the bead to set can be a real pain. Air it up and spray some soapy water on it. You'll find out where and why it's leaking.

Lift the bike and inspect the tire, fill it with air and use soapy water to find the source of the leak. My guess is the bead isn't set tight.

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking you are correct. I had to go buy a new compressor and will check it out.

Did they replace the valve stem?

The rubber stems are easy to damage.

The valve core could be loose.

Do the soapy water check on those two areas also.

When they changed the tire they should have installed a new stem and core. Put steel stems in if you can get them.

I got screwed

I am so lucky that on my 30 mile ride home on my new tire, I picked up a 2 inch self tapping screw. The tire shop said they had taken the same screw out of 3 vehicles yesterday. There was nothing wrong with the darkside installation or valve stem. Just plain bad luck.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
