I had no problem with the local bike shop. I did all the work, just brought him rim and tire. Charged $35 for mount and balance. Took me 1 hour each to remove and install.
Not a hard job.

When I bought my Metz 880, I checked with the dealership and his price was around $5-$10 from the price online after shipping, etc. Worth it to me to get it through them and not deal with the hassle.

I was charged $30.00 to change my front tire, last summer, and that was bringing him the wheel. This fellow doesn't balance them either. I ordered a rear tire for this summer and also purchased a Harbour Freight Tire Changer machine for about $90.00 for both peices. From now on I will be mounting my own tires, as well as my brothers and the six neighbours who ride. Im in the process of modifying the tire machine and making a new leverage bar so it does not mark the rims. We are also fabricating a wheel balancer, As you have probably figured out, three tire changes and the equipment is payed for, even less if you save some money by buying them online.

It looks like the tire changing equipment is on sale at Harbor Freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=42927

I've heard lots of folks say Ron Ayers Motorsports online usually has good deals on tires. The thing about it, I can't walk in there and get the same deal as online. Their dealership is right here in Greenville.

I was in a pinch in October and needed a new rear tire before heading to Maggie Valley. They did take my bike right in and put a Dunlop Elite 3 on it. They didn't have the Metzler 880 in stock at the time which is what was on it. I can't complain about that one.

I but my tires on-line from whoever is cheapest and get them changed at a local shop for $20. My last change to a Dunlop Elite III on the rear was $126 including mount and balance.
The last quote I got for front and rear from a motorcycle repair shop (non-OEM) was $480.

The ONLY place I buy tires is www.swmototires.com
$14 shipping for 1 tire or free shipping on 2 or more tires.
Been buying my tires there for about 8 years with no problems what so ever.

Topcat: Your dealer must think you won the state lottery, he might as well put a gun to your head and rob you.
