Something other then CB?

Some of my riding buddies are talking about mounting those cheap gmrs radios to our handlebars and running a simple headset up into our helmets. Does anyone have any experience doing this,or any reccomendations on the best (cheap) way to do this?

Unless you use a better quality headset, you will experience a lot of windnoise while riding. They are certainly cheap enough now to give it a try.

Fax.....Life is always "you get what you pay for".......I've been down the CB road for many years on a bike.......I finally bought a J&M CB/Weather/Aux radio. I'll admit, it's pricey, but for what I spent on previous Cobra CB's, I could have paid for this thing 2 times over.

If you go cheap and decide to keep a CB on your bike, you'll be spending a ton of money.

My 2 centavos worth.

PS...I went cheap on my front light bar too......spent more than I care to admit. Someday I'll learn my lesson.

I agree with the other posts, go cheap and you will regret it. I went for the J&M CB2003, but you can get the J&M INTEGRATR IV that will support the FRS/GMRS radios and also acts as an intercom. There are definitely other options, but I have been very happy with my J&M setup.

I spent a ton of time researching the best pricing on J&M equipment and found this place to have some of the best pricing on MC electronics Sierra Electronics. They have also been great to deal with shipping next day every time I order and fast to respond to questions.

I finally broke down and got the J&M also. I have played with other types, even created a bluetooth rig for a midland and scalarider. It did work but I got tired of charging it. Now I just need to hook my iphone into the J&M... If you want a J&M there is a great sale here:

I have never seen it that cheap....that is a crazy price...I paid a lot more at Sierra-MC and they had the best price I could find.

That is an excellent price! This may be the "push" I needed to buy one.

Cowboy Thanks for the tip on motosport!!!

I had been wanting one but was too cheap to pull the trigger. I'm glad I waited, thanks to you I bought one at by far the best price I've seen in two years of looking and waiting.

I just tried to order the J&M from Motorsport.com and they are on backorder now and wouldn't accept my order.

We have tried several different FRS/GMRS radios and head sets. The only head set I kind of liked was one with a throat mike instead of a boom mike. Any cheap boom mike will pick up lots of wind noise. I tried covering them with cloth and foam but nothing worked. But then again I was using an open face helmet. They might have worked better with a full face helmet. No farther than we where apart any of the cheap radios worked well.

Likely only had one at that price or some small quantity. It will be interesting to see if they get more in 7-10 days like the site says and sell them at that low price.

Did you mount them anywhere or did you just keep them in your pocket?

I may just hook it to the back of my belt rather then try and mount it to the bars. The only downside would be that I wouldn't be able to control the volume and such.

The headset is definitly going to be the expensive part of this.

I checked the Motorsport website this morning and the J&M isn't even listed on the web page. I shouldn't have let that slip through my fingers. I fear it's gone for good.

That sucks! It was an awesome price too bad no one got a chance to grab one.
