Clutch Spring Replacement

Well, I finally decided to tackle my Popeye clutch issue.
For those who are still contemplating doing this, please save yourself some time and energy and get an air impact drill. I picked up my 27mm impact socket from Harbor Freight and the impact drill from Lowes. After reading reviews, I went with the Kobalt 350 ft lbs air impact wrench https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-0-5-...nch/1000118743 and couldn’t be happier with the ease of braking the bolt loose. FYI, don’t try using the cheap hotdog air compressor, you’re wasting your time… The washers I went with are the ones from pl8dude on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Clutch-Spri...72.m2749.l2649. If you wrench on your own bike, you can handle this. The most difficult part of this entire process was putting my right side exhaust back on by myself. Trying to hold it up and get the bolts back on the bracket on the back were a pain in the ass. I finally got it, but needed to crack open a beer to celebrate afterwards; like I needed a reason… lol
Since my bike has 62k miles, I decided to do the clutch master cylinder repair kit and replace the slave cylinder.
As far as the results, all I can say is wow!!! I should have done this a long time ago. I honestly could not believe replacing the spring would make that much of a difference. I went for a ride to the gas station to test it out, next thing I knew I had burned a half of tank of gas. Talk about an enjoyable ride!!! Not that I care for traffic that much, but I’m actually looking forward to running into a bit of it so I can really put my clutch to the test…

Well done. I had 65,000 kms on my 05 Nomad when I sold it and never had any issues with the clutch.

I did mine At 75k last summer. The difference is day and night

I was too cheap to go get an impact wrench but I got more than enough weight to handle the job and spun that nut off with out a problem.
