I've looked at the Voyager and currently the size of the trunk and the flimsy nature of the lid are deal breakers for me. Char and I would have to make some serious adjustments to be able to travel without the capacity of our Premeux trunk and Dekker Supreme bag on top.

I share those same concerns Doug....but in looking at other forum threads...it appears many Voyager owners add the Yamaha luggage rack. It has a couple extra metal strips on the underside to help distribute weight. Not a perfect situation...but what are ya gonna do? I can ditch our rain pants and just use our chaps w/the rain jacket. That will free up some space in our rear luggage bag. Besides, the pants are a PIA anyways...lol. I expect you can fit a bit more stuff into those top-loading bags as well, maybe not much....but some.

Kris

You can get water proof riding pants and jackets, no need for any rain gear at all. That is the direction I am going.

I doubt it. Kris has a Premeux tourpak, which comes with its own mounting rack.

I'm not a math wizard....but even my Norwegian blockhead can see substantial savings in buying the Voyager... Just sayin'....
you tell them kris and trust me i know what you mean about when oppurtunity
knocks.i took my 08 in for a cooling system change and ended up with my vaquero.the big bikes just are not selling well and the 13's will be arriving
in a few months so it is clearly a buyers market and there are some great deals to be had.

If that is for the ABS model, get the white one. If it isn't ABS, it's not a good deal.

Not true at all dealers Kris. Catch a flight to Mike Bruno's Bayou Country HD. I got $8,000 on the trade of my '07 + $1,000 off of the MSRP of the Limited. KBB trade value is $5,240. He also gave me a $500 gift card which got us a couple of new helmets with money left over. That's why I jumped when I did. I was originally going to list the Nomad for $6,500. I would have lost the $700 tax credit + the $1,500 extra I got on the trade. I don't know what they are asking for it but it's still sitting on their used bike lot.

Just got off the phone with Costco....talked to an authorized Kawi/Auto program specialist. I have a much better understanding of how things work, although she is sending me to another dealership to start with. If they won't match the $6500.00 trade-in offer....I can still work with the first dealership.

Costco has to start the process....by sending your member info to the authorized people at participating dealerships. They will also email you an authorization number that you print out and take with you to the dealership. The program is only for current year models...not holdovers from last years models.

Once you meet with the authorized Costco saleman at the dealership, he shows you the Costco member price sheet. You are also entitled to any manufacturers rebates, incentives, or special financing.

Lastly....you are entitled to 20% off any accessories you might wish to add at the time of purchase. Good to know since it might be worth adding a few things out of the gate (V&H slip-ons, front fender rail, top or side bag rails, etc)...saving some $$ in the process.

So there you go. If you are an interested Costco member....the phone number to call is 877-560-2580 and they will hook you up....

I am surprised the first dealer didn't know this.

My bad. In that case, I doubt it as the rack is specific to the Nomad.
