I finally got around to installing my cartire today. I did it myself and it was quite a chore getting the new tire on the rim. With the very stiff sidewalls it was hard getting the bead over the rim, I finally got it on with my brothers help and thought it was all downhill from there. However the bead didn't want to seat properly for me, so after multiple attempts I took it to the tire shop to see what they could do. He had no better luck than I did, but after inflating it to 140 psi he finally got it to seat, I stood way back for that one! He said that once in a while you get a real stubborn one. I got it mounted on the bike but then it started raining so I'll have to try it tomorrow and see how it feels.

Putting that much pressure in a tire can't be good. I can't believe it was that hard to get it to seat. Maybe someone was trying to tell you something by it not wanting to seat.

Hey Ring, welcome to the darkside. I wonder if a little more soap would have helped get that tire seated?

Ring, sorry you had the seating problem. My Verdestein Quatrac seated at 60lbs. Different tire though.
Look forward to your report after you play with air pressure and get a few miles on it.

Safety glasses, a couple sprays of starter fluid, a long-stemmed, propane barbeque lighter, a "WHOOMPH!", a kick and it's seated. Lot's of videos on YouTube showing how it works.

We used lots of soap, and the rim was cleaned spotlessly. My home compressor only puts out 90psi, so I thought a few more psi at the tire shop might do it, it did finally after about ten attempts there.
I use the starting fluid method sometimes and so has the tire guy, but I only do that as a last resort or when Im in the woods on my ATV and need to get back to camp.
Even with the starting fluid I think this particular tire would have been a tough one to seat. Its on now, hopefully for a long time.

I misunderstood. I thought the tire wasn't sealing enough to initially seat. I didn't realize that it took that much to pop into the final seal after increasingly adding air.

You need a more clear picture to show the tread design better. Welcome to the Darkside, I think. I'm not real sure about you letting you neighbor drink all your beer and holding your balls up like that tho....... Just sayin..
