Tank/Gas Cap Vents

'06 Nomad- Looking at the tank with cap open, there are two vents. One in cap mount and one in tank by the opening. Are both of these supposed to have rubber washers or gaskets of some sort? The cap vent has a sort of stepped washer with the step fitting down into the hole. The tank vent next to the cap vent has nothing. Is there supposed to be one there too?

One is a vent and the other is a drain. The vent is the one that is part of the cap and uses the O-ring. If you are smelling gas going down the road usually that O-ring needs replaced. They will tear over time. The part number is 92093-1030. The vent goes to the back hose.

The drain is just a hole and is off to the side. That's to allow water or splashed gas to not collect around the cap and drain. It goes to the front hose. No O-ring or washer there.

Thanks. Not smelling gas. Just thought maybe o-ring or washer missing from drain.

On my 1999 carbed bike, there is a square plastic cover over the fuel level sender, under the tank. It has a hose attatched that goes down behind the engine by the swinging arm. What purpose does that serve ?

In case of a leak, it send it down toward the road....instead of bathing the top of your rear cylinder with the raw fuel....
