Question Question

I found a place that has the banjo fittings heeded to make a balance kit for my Voyager. My question is does anyone know the size/pitch of the threads for the shock?

I don't, but you could remove a shock(not hard to do) and take it in to them and get the thread matched up.

I think I'll remove the valve instead of the shock itself.

Send a message via AIM to AlabamaNomadRider Send a message via Yahoo to AlabamaNomadRider
That would be even easier than removing the shock.

jestephens, thanks for the info. I haven't been back to the store yet. I will probably check tomorrow since it's just a mile from the place I have PT for my knee. The sales person I talked to said he wasn't sure if I could buy just the two fittings needed or if I had to buy bulk. It's a special order for them so I think bulk is going to be the way they sell them. If that's the case I'll wait for you to make more.

I've got a guy that thinks he has what I'm asking for (the thread for the bike adapted to a push-to-connect 4mm tube fitting). We haven't ordered one to try yet, and may not. Even if it's perfect, it's $18 each.

On the other hand, I've designed an adapter from our threads to a 1/8" tube compression fitting. I have resources for CNC machining, but I need some prototypes to confirm it will work before investing in inventory. I haven't asked anyone to do that yet. And overall cost is still undetermined.

I'm currently testing a fitting I found that adapts something similar enough to our threads to work adapted to an 1/8" NPTF. But that puts us back to 2 fittings, and >$12 each, and I had to re-tap the 1/8" NPTF deeper into the fitting (it was way too tight). To assemble a kit, it would be best to avoid extra labor, plus the cost of a tap, oil, cleaning, etc. The last kits I sold took some drilling and tapping to make, and it was sometimes difficult to keep up with orders as well as my day job.

Wow, $18 ea. is pretty expensive. Hopefully the testing you're doing will result in a cheaper alternative, Keep us posted. Thanks

I checked back in with the supplier for the fittings and they are sold in bulk only. The fittings come 20 in a bag at about $6 each. I think I'll wait and hope that jestephens find a reasonable supplier.
