Finally...Another Nomad Rider...!!!

After posting another thread last week about missing my chances when seeing other Nomads on the road (0 for 3 since last July), today I finally got it right... !

My wife and I jumped on the Nomad for a short ride to the auto dealership where I just purchased a new '09 Chevy Silverado to drop off some paperwork. I'm sitting at a light when I see a black bike coming from the left and turning south in front of me (same direction as I'm headed). But because two lanes of traffic were turning at the same time, I could not tell what kind of bike it was and didn't give it too much thought.

As soon as my light turned green I scooted down the road. After a couple miles and a couple more lights...I could see the bike was just up ahead of me in the next lane. It was then that I started to look at the lines of the bike and noticed the hard bags.

No....could it be? Nahhh I told myself. As I drew closer I saw the unmistakeable side opening bags and indeed it was....a 2006 Black Nomad... ! In perfect form...I pulled right up next to him at the next stop light. We chatted for a second (you know...."nice Nomad!") Before losing the opportunity I asked if he had a minute to pull over and he nodded yes.

He introduced himself as DC and seemed like a very friendly fellow of about my age. We admired each others bikes and mods...and chatted for about 20 minutes. DC said he lives in Mountlake Terrace, WA.....about 25 minutes from my place.

I told him all about KawaNOW and our NW Region of which he knew nothing about. His wife loves to ride too and they long haul about with a trailer and everything. Of course I told him all about the National Rally in June! As much as I wanted to...I did not ask for his contact info, but instead gave him all of mine. I gave him the web address for KawaNOW, my cell phone number and my email address.

I will cross my fingers and hope that he does in fact join us here and touches base with me as I would love to have another Nomad owner to ride with around here. I've done my best to spread the KawaNOW love....and I have to admit I will be bummed out if I (we) don't hear from him...

Maybe he will be in touch. I have seen only one nomad on the road in the Lubbock, TX area (in the past 14 months). I enjoy having a less common vehicle; however, I share your feeling when seeing someone riding one: not only having something in common with that person, but seeing how nice the bike looks out on the road.

A black Nomad? I'm surprised you could catch him.

Good job at spreading the word.

Man, I love to hear these stories. Good job Kris! I saw another one today, a guy on a black with his pillion behind. Looked like they were having a great time. I tried to catch them at the light at hwy 249 where the Tomball Kawi dealer is, but it stayed green too long.

He wouldn't have recognized my Nomad as it looked a lot like a Grey Dodge P/U at the time. Hope we hear from your guy.

Green and Silver is it fellas. They charge $200 extra over the black ones for a reason. It IS the best color!!

For me, it was the other way around. I bought a used Suzuki C50 last September. Put 4000 miles on it in three months, but as much as I liked it, I needed something more.

Was out riding with a friend and at a gas station, saw a guy riding an '06 Nomad, Green/Silver. Man, was it a beautiful bike! Talked to him briefly. Said he had 25,000 trouble free miles on it. He didn't mention the web site, but he sure made the Nomad look and sound good!

Toyed with buying a used one just like his. It was also an '06 Green/Silver with 7K miles on it, but wound up buying a new '08 Red/Black instead.

Great bike. Hit the 1000 mile mark yesterday.
