I know that this is maybe a delicate subject for all of you my American, Canadian and British friends.

but

A fellow citizen of my country has visit the Landing Beaches in Normandy / French and the area around, for years and years.

All his knowledge and pictures are collected at his website in the link below

For who is interested in. And for who is coming to Normandy in the future, and will visit the beaches.

http://www.strijdbewijs.nl/normandie1/home.htm

With kind regards,

Jan Talmon

Thank you for sharing this site. I will be showing it to a few of my fellow teachers. Maybe they can use it in class.

I don't see what is so delicate... But thanks for the link and site....

If anything is delicate it is the ignorance of todays youth who have no idea this took place, why, and call it a bad thing. When the French do this it really set us Yanks off.

I still have a living uncle who was there that day. He refuses to say a word about it. But i KNOW he was there then. He hasn't forgiven the Germans a bit either. Still calls them by other names.

My father is gone now, but was in subs in the Pacific theater. He was more reasonable since he never saw hand to hand combat.

Our school is planning a trip there within the next few weeks, there is a group of teachers and students going for the 65th anniversary.

Thank you for posting this Jan.

Thanks very much for posting this. My father-in-law was in the 101st airborne. He jumped in Normandy and Holland, and was taken prisoner in Bastogne. The movie "Saving Private Ryan" is when he started opening up.

The only delicate thing is the sense of the individuals who mindlessly carry "War is not the answer" signs. Sometimes war IS the answer--as horrible as it may be.

Thanks for sharing... and thanks to the person that put this site together.

It is likely the most well-documented site of its kind regarding this battle and battle-ground.

It should almost be mandatory for our youth to visit and study this site to gain a better understanding of the sacrifice millions made for freedom... ;)
