Chuckster 7 in backing plate/filter

Right now have Dobeck TFI, Roadhouse exhaust and 9" spectro single intake filter set up. I think the 7 in diameter set up looks better but looking for some pictures to compare. So you guys that went to the 7" intake post some pictures if you would.

Hey MAC what's involved if I change to the 7"?

Here's mine:

This is the front side of the 7" backing plate:

and here's the back side:

Here it is installed with the K&N filter:

another:

I just realized these pictures are a little out of sequence. The white breather filter you see beneath the air cleaner housing was how I first had it set up. It wasn't until later that I added the 90° brass elbow and attached the breather tube to the plate.

I just installed the 7"plate today.
It's fairly simple.
Just a matter of removing a few screws, swapping a couple of items over and bing your done.
30 minutes max.
Pics to follow

Thanks for the pictures. Appreciate all the effort you and others make to give info. Definitely considering the 7 in plate and K&N filter set up.

My 2005 Nomad, which I just purchased, has a 9408 Kuryakyn Hypercharger. I am disappointed/concerned in the interference with right leg and knee and difficulty to get on to the brake pedal. I am seriously thinking of doing Chuckster's mod with stock dog bowl. Would anyone have a stock dog bowl for sale?

Cj, what did you do with the 2 metal lines that used to be the uh er um ISC's yeah the ISC's...

I assume capped them off back more somewhere???

Jim, either a cover like Cj's or a stock dog bowl like dk dixie. Or anything else you come by.

A fitting like Cj's brass one, and a new bolt like Cj's, all of which I can get on demand local, if you want me.

For Pete this would be easy as well. Just bring him these pics.

Do Not ride to NH now... My driveway is a sheet of ice, I have snow and more in the forecast!

I removed them all the way back to the throttle body and capped the fittings on the throttle body where the rubber hoses were connected.

Hey CJ thanks for the pictures. I like that set up with the K&N. I'm leaning that direction.

Thanks Cj. I figured that was how, but wanted to be sure. I am aware the steel turns back to tubing again.

So far when I have done these it has been with the idea to go back to stock on a whim. I don't trust state regs and epa much.

Flavor, Well, IOU, and Pete don't

That's what I'm think of to Mac. Being able to undo this in a moments notice when the CARB comes a knocking..... One thing I don't like is the drastic (to me anyway) increase in intake noise.

CJ with your setup now with the Cobras TD's I'm assuming your "dialed in" on the fuel processor? If so do you think your mods have a noticable increase in power or just more noise or both? From just a power stand point are pipes and open air cleaner worth it? Pipes $500 bucks, About $70 for chucksters plate and K&N.

$570 for only more noise wouldn't reach my threshold of worthwhile mods.... JMHO
