Seth Laam?

Has anyone here done business and been able to get in touch with Seth Laam from LAAM Custom Seats? I spoke with him three weeks ago and then sent him my seat for a possible rework. Since my seat falls outside of what he normally does I've been curious to hear his feedback and whether he might be able to help me out. I've left him a couple of voice mails and sent him a message via Facebook with zero response. Is this his standard SOP? I understand that he is a one-man show and is probably busy but come on.

Must be just your seat. From his facebook page.

I'm sad to hear this. Seems he takes after his previous employer Rick Mayer, who screwed up major league to the extent he can't advertise in the BMWMOA magazine. I don't understand these guys.

You still may get the chance if he can't do anything with it.

I had him redo my seats and things went pretty smooth. He is slow to respond but no worse than other major companies. As mentioned, fortunately he does really good work.

Seth has done both my vaquero seat and KLR seat
The work is first rate and worth every penny
The bad news is he is vary hard to get a hold of sometimes
Both times I sent him a spare seat so no mater how long he took I would still be able to ride
I would recommend finding a seat other than the one on your bike to send him

I don't have much patience with people who offer a product or a service and then you want to purchase their product or service and you can't get in touch with them or you pay them money and they ignore you. I don't care of this guy is the Leonardo Da Vinci of motorcycle seats, I wouldn't do business with him based on what I've read. Maybe that's just me, but customer service is very important.

I sent Seth a text message and he replied in a matter of minutes. I guess it pays to have the direct number. The seat will be shipping back to me in the next day or two. At this point I don't know what, if anything, was done to it.

I see this a lot with people in different artisan trades. I bet a lot are Myers-Briggs ISTPs. Great at what they do, but not good at people skills. They need a face on the business that does the customer side of the work and stay in the shop. A lot of these types drink too. Seen it way to often to count. The guy he trained with and worked for was a lot worse. A total flake. In this case he needs someone to handle the customers and stay in the shop.
