Dammit...I tried my best to stay out of this thread.... but I can't hold my tongue any more.... I'm voting for Willie Nelson!!!!

I'd vote for ole' Willie...even though he would not win. AND...believe it or not (especially because of my job), I personally think if our country legalized marijuana there would be a lot less crime. In my opinion, simple possession of marijuana is nothing more than a simple "status" offense. It is when it gets ugly and in large quantity that somebody gets shot over it. Keeping it illegal only creates business opportunities that would otherwise belong to the corporate cigarette manufacturers. I rank it right up there with the prohibition years of alcohol. It is a crime of opportunity based on demand and the need for supply.

My wife worked with an ex cop from New Orleans. He said that there were so many homicides that he would get in trouble if he arrested someone for posession of marijuana.

Bowed out of a fun and informative forum four years ago because of its volume of political threads and comments, sure hope it doesn't happen here.
