Question Vulcan 1700 vacuum genius input needed

Greetings,

When the 2012 painted parts were swapped with the 2015 painted parts, there was ONE connection which was not the same.

On the 2012 (Green) gas tank there is one vacuum tube on the bottom right. On the 2015 (Grey) gas tank, there are TWO nipples. One hose under each side at the rear of the tank. The right side hose has a BLUE identifier and the left side has a RED identifier.

Currently, I have a plug in the RED marked tube on the 2015 and a vacuum cap on the left nipple of the tank on the 2012.

Question: Is this the RIGHT solution? Do I need to create a "T" connection on the 2015, so that both the RED and BLUE hoses are drawing SOMETHING? Refer to the attached.
(Alternately)
Would it be better if the RED was connected and the BLUE was plugged?

Appreciate your thoughts...

Ride safe,
Smokier

At first look I would say maybe a 2012 return pump replacement? How would your 15 return pump work correctly if one nipple was blocked? = If the 2 hoses worked in a loop/ simultaneously.

Knowing nothing about these things, I will be following Quietly. You got my curiosity now.

And yet this comes to mind

You are going to need to find out where they run to in the 2 tanks . but if tee is used I see a possible need for a check valve maybe 2 for it to still operate normally . see if You can get the other diagram and post side by side . I am by no means a genius but curious !

My question is are the pumps interchangeable? If the only difference would be that one has 2 return lines and the other has 1, Could you just swop out the pumps to follow the tank it was connected to?

Is the 2015 a California bike?

You might want to consider the possibility they are for the gas fumes recovery from the fuel tank. I have run mine with the lines disconnected and didn't have a problem. ( Forgot to hook them back up when I had the tank off.)

I never questioned why there was a red and blue marked line. On my 2011 fuel will not run out of the lines.

Ask the question; what is each line for and what do they do? My best guess is it is part of the SMOG system. It might run better with out them.

JUST MAKE SURE THE FUEL TANK IS VENTED if you remove the system, OR YOU WILL HAVE A BAD DAY.
