Good News, found the reason my blinker was not working correctly, bad relay. Bad news, I found a good amount of oil on top of the transmission, back of rear cylinder, cam chain tensioner. Oil lines and tensioner covers are tight, Unless it

Gotta act Mechanical detective....could possibly be your oil breather hose to backing plate come loose? Oil dripping from air cleaner? Oil line seeping due to a bad seal at banjo bolt....run your finger under your oil line going up top and see if theres a oil drip there....
Maybe someone spilled some oil putting some in and had no rag?
With a small flashlight, look between the fins and see if oil could be being blown back either on the head or barrel....dripping on top of the trans.
A really leaky cam plug could possibly do it.
Gasket under your chain tensioner also.

Hopefully, April Fools joke....

Thx DL, hoping you would chime in! Yeah I already looked at the cam plug and in between the fins, those are clean, as is the air cleaner/intake side of bike. Oil is just behind rear cylinder area. I thought about the chain tensioner as well and though I made sure it was tight, the gasket could very well be bad and the crush washers on the oil lines have never been changed. Looks like it’s time for Columbo to get to work and drain the oil, clean the bike, replace some parts and do some maintenance. It’s an 06 Nomad with 70k miles on her. I had been thinking I needed the top end done, freshen her up a bit. What is the ball park figure to do the top end and what do you suggest being done?

If things are not evident, clean all your messy oil mess off the top of your engine. Wash your engine with some S100 engine spray or equiv.
Go to Napa or O'Reillys, get some engine oil dye (made for chasing down oil leaks), and a UV flashlight (penlight)....
Ride her around for a few days, after adding the dye, might have to ride a week, depends on how bad the leak is....
After you get some seepage, go shining your light....you'll see where the leak is....
