QS full synthetic on sale at CDN Tire

Morning all,

Noticed in CDN tire's flyer today, Quaker state full synthetic oil on sale. vaious grades. Looks like a good deal, if so, I might stock up for next season. (45% off, $21.99)

Any recommendations which grade to pick up?
http://www.quakerstate.ca/#/motor-oi...ate-durability
Is there any reason to avoid QS and go with rotella?

Thanks
B.

Can't say! I tried full synthetic and my bike rattled and clanked. Went back to Semi synthetic - Golden Spectro 10W40 and bike seems to have quieten down and shifts way less clunky? After the use of the Synthectic ( Mobil 1) the bike started to tick in the top end and it has never gone away - just slightly quieter with the Semi Synthetic? Wish I had never put Mobil in!

I use full synthetic Rotella. No problems at all.

Same here....used Mobil 1 for over 20k miles. Shifting is quieter with the Rotella T6 full syn and no more engine lifter noise on cold startup. $5/qt sure beats over $9/qt for the Mobil 1 MC oil.

I've been using the LUCAS Semi-syn motorcycle oil with JASCO rating lately.
(last 3 oil changes), seems to be just fine. Haven't noticed any strange noises and shifting is smooth & silky.
$7.25 at AutoValue Parts Stores for 940ml.

I have never used QS synthetic in a bike, so I can't say. If it has energy conserving written in the api circle I would be cautious

Hi Folks,

Well I went today to pick up the quaker state (last day it was on sale), and it had the energy conservation written in the logo - so no good.
Got home, ready to post and see that cnc had the same concern - good thinking.

They also had rotella on sale for about $30, figure I'll pick some up in the spring.
Too bad, at $20, that seemed a good deal for the QS.

Cheers

I have never used QS in anything. A mechanic gave me a bad report on it years ago. I have just avoided it. The Shell Rotella T6 is supposed to be a very good oil. Lot of guys use it in their bikes. I use the Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 full synthetic and have had no problems with it. It is higher priced than the Rotella.

I buy my Rotella T6 from American Walmart. (US$19.50 per jug). The oil change makes for a nice trip down south of the border.

Elvis, why is the Rotella $10 more in Canada? Just curious.

I asked the same question myself. The gas is more expensive here, the beer is more expensive here, the bikes are more expensive here, this list could go on.

Guess, we're richer than you guys
